One thing I did notice, after updating the firmware, this pop up appears when starting a movie:

You can close it out by hitting the back button, but I can't seem to find a setting to permenantly disable it, even in the "option menu".

Also, anyone in the past have the tray repaired and have a cost estimate? As my "old" player is currently broken, getting it fixed (depending on the cost) would be good to have as a backup or for my other living room.
They don’t fix them really. They replace them. So whatever the cost is it is cheaper than buying a new one.

My previous UB820 i used the c2s magic remote and player remote with no issue prior. That's why I didn't know if it was a new thing/new software. I only have used the 820s remote with the new player so far and still get it.

Is it going through an AVR?

Has anyone bought one of the sub-$700 "acceptable" Amazon Warehouse units? Asking since my 9000 died (manufactured in '19) after less than 2 years of service and can't read discs anymore. I'd gladly go after another option but there really isn't one, nor one that looks as good as this player in motion.

Given the cost of repairs also, I'm probably just better off buying another player, and selling the old broken one off for parts.

Coincidentally I also had that last night for the 1st time after a few months with a newer 820 with 1.70FW. It happened on a new release 4K disc after a restart (the disc had the stop / resume as opposed to pause only feature), if that has any bearing.

I think I've only ever seen it when using my AVR, so not sure if it's an HDMI CEC byproduct.

I'll try disabling it and see if that fixes.

Just the power off feature, it was on for over 30 minutes and stayed on.

Yep, definitely looks like it was Viera Link (CEC). Playing a movie now with no issues.

Add me to list of those whose (UB9000) remote decided to randomly stop working. I was looking at a replacement but Panasonic wants $130?! Can anyone vouch for the cheap, non-OEM replacements? I really don't want to spend $100 for a freakin' remote.

Yeah, tell me about it. They discontinued the harmony line in 2021 and unfortunately no one has really picked up the slack (at least not from any company of repute). I hate to blame everything on streaming, but the truth is that the high-end A/V enthusiast market is so minuscule in 2023 that finding products like that is getting harder and harder. Most people are content with just a smart TV nothing else, so they have no need for a remote that controls a room full of equipment.

Where are you located?

I paid £41.56 (includes P&P) for a DP-UB9000 remote here:

I'm in the United States. Unfortunately, the same thing here is $130 USD (£105).

That’s ridiculous.

Do you know anyone in the U.K. who can order one and then send it to you?

I’ve just looked on Royal Mail and tracked international delivery would cost £11.70.

So all in it would be £58.21 (approx $73)

Search "N2QAYA000130" on Amazon, they usually go for $10-12.
