Can anyone who has done the latest firmware update confirm that you can still hear sound when playing at 1.5x speed for Blu-ray’s and DVDs? I’ve been scared to update…

There still is sound but due to my setup, my player decodes the audio to PCM and then sends it that way so I don't know if bitstreaming also has audio.

I had problems with my UB9000 being inconsistent in reading UHDs (but not blu-rays/dvds). I would get cannot read disc error that would usually be fixed with opening/closing tray multiple times or turning off/unplugging unit for a minute.

I talked to a technician by phone who said most all players have this problem with double/triple layer discs that may be due to the lack of storage in the players. His recommendation to me was to erase the bd data frequently and/or buy a usb expansion flash drive to put in the front of the player that was 8gb or higher. He said that he encounters this problem with all players, some worse than others. except the ps5 and xbox he said because they have adequate ram/storage.

This solution he gave me has seemed to work so far. maybe this could help others.
I just wanted to say thanks. I was able to try the USB on my Panasonic 420.. It seems much smoother loading up and playing the UHD titles with the USB.

Of course! I'm not sure about the 420, but my usb is on the front so I got this one.

It's tiny and doesn't stick out far like most flash drives would. the 64gb is under $15.

Would this work for the ubp-x800m2, too?

I was told by the tech I talked to that any player having issues readying double/triple layered discs that storage could be the issue because players don't come with much of it. So I imagine it could help/it's worth a try if you've encountered issues with UHD discs loading.

So it would be enough to just stick the USB-Drive into the front? That's it?

Some people will believe anything. The usb slot is not needed or used for "storage" for disc playback. Panasonic should cull some of these "techs" if that's all they can come up with.

Usb drive can be used to storage BUDA/APDA data and this data can be helpfully to faster playing/loading disc (but the word faster is a bit of an exaggeration), some rare discs storage data inside BUDA and use to resume from last watched place. But I have never heard of any USB drive solving any problem with loading discs.

Generally it is always a good idea to have usb drive connected.

"Write" is needed to save data to usb drive, there is a big chance that NTFS is not supported in write mode.

true, player will definitely read in NTFS, but I've never tried to write to it in that mode.

my pc allows me to format my USB stick only in exFAT (or NTFS). is exFAT same as FAT32 for the purpose?

You're probably trying to format a drive or partition over 32 gigs. Fat 32 can't be more than 32 gigs large on the drive. So you'd have to either only format 32 gigs of it and leave the rest is unallocated space, or you have to use exfat or in NTFS
