After owning the 820 for a few months now I must say it's the perfect player. I honestly would never buy another player without the ability to adjust the HDR eotf cruve. I am spoiled by this feature on the Panasonic. HDR movies are honestly perfect on this player.

So it appears these do not have IR remote input jacks, so I need to use a stick-on transmitter with my Harmony Hub. Since the front panel drops down when the tray opens, where/how do you mount the transmitter? There doesn't appear to be room under the fold-down panel, and if you stock it on the front of the panel, you may loose remote control while the tray is open.
Do these things have IP control? |

Tommyboy81 I think that it’s not enough for Dolby Vision, or at least it’s just at the limit. I would buy the Belkin that is well known by all Apple TV owners.

What is not enough for Dolby Vision? If you are referring to cables, as long as it is certified to 18Gbs, it will be enough for DV. You will not get higher bandwidth on the signal even if you are using HDMI 2.1 cable. The limitation being the devices connected by such cable, as they will be capable of only transmitting a maximum 18gb. You can still use the HDMI 2.1 cable but you will still be getting 18gb.

I don't think there are any Category 3 cables out yet, there weren't the last time I checked. And you certainly don't need a Ultra High Speed HDMI cable for UHD BDs.
And technically as far as I know you're not even allowed (if you're a HDMI Adopter) to mention the version number on the cable packaging (or marketing), so it might be best to avoid something with HDMI 2.1 on it! If you're in the US just pick up a Certified Monoprice cable that suits your needs. |

Try it, it should do it.
Quote:
"A newly-developed drive base with a 3-dimensional, thick steel plate fixes the optical disc drive to the centre of the 2-layer chassis to reduce vibration and noise during disc rotation; while the use of a 2-layer structure with a heavy steel plate for the chassis achieves a low centre of gravity and low vibration. And thick aluminium is used on the front and side panels." |

I just got the 820 and I love it so far. Just curious - does anyone know if there’s a setting on it to open up a 2.0 audio track to 5.1 (like Dolby ProLogic)? My Sony X800 has a setting that does this called DTS Neo 6 (or something like that) and I’m just wondering if the Panasonic has something similar. I’ve played around with the settings a little but I can’t really find anything.

Unfortunately all I have is a Vizio Soundbar/Subwoofer with rear speakers. It does have a Movie/music setting that does this, but I’ve found that it makes background noise really “hissy” sounding - especially for older films.
