Onto the Finals!

P.S.
The thing I love about Womens soccer is that for the most part it doesn't include all the crap which the men do...dirty tackles, elbow city on headers, play-acting, etc. The women truly make it more of a 'beautiful game' than do the men.
The T&A helps a little too

Did you ever post a pic on here of that Spidey crew cap which I sent you as a gift months ago?

If so, I don’t recall. What the hell, did the dog eat it?

I wish….nope, the owners have had me, for a long time, somewhere mid-way down the emoticon list here…. https://forum.blu-ray.com/misc.php?d...=vB_Editor_001

^ I think on the right somewhere between the ninja and the blindfolded dude.

Anyway, when my better half looked at my emoticon when it first appeared, she said…”You look like a deer caught in the headlights…..BIG EYES……now, take out the trash as it’s pilling up in the kitchen”.

Kinda puts everything into perspective quickly.

Tobey nailed it for me. I was bit gutted when i found out there was not going to be another with him in it. Soon recovered when i watched the Dark Knight though! A new favorite of mine comic book movie wise.

I can't agree more! The French played, at times, a dominating game. I could throw in something about France...history...and giving up, but I won't go there. That was as hard a'fought match as any I've seen this tourney.
I was kind of wondering why Meagan Rapinoe didn't get the start? Especially after that amazing crossing pass to set up the game tying goal against Brazil. Did you see how she was an almost instant game changer when inserted? I wonder if she'll get the start on Sunday. She seems to have the "hot hand"(or foot as it were), and I'd certainly go with her!
Great point about Womens vs. Mens. The amount of "diving" and injuries have gotten so bad that ESPN is making spoof commercials about it....that's when you know it's gotten so bad!

I was very happy with his portrayal; it left me wanting for nothing. However, he didn't seem to me to do anything definitive with the role. Nothing he did precluded my readiness to try out anyone else's take.

Personally with the exception of Willem Dafoe and Bryce Dallas Howard I felt that every actor/actress Raimi chose left a lot to be desired. Kirsten Dunst especially.

The scenes with Maguire and Dunst were about as cheesy and badly acted as anything done by Sir Lucas in recent years. UGH.

On the subject of superhero films, I still feel that Brandon Routh should have been able to keep the role of Man of Steel even if it was a complete reboot.

After the reaction of Sucker Punch and the boxoffice performance of Green Lantern Warner needs to hit a home run with that flick.

Again, remind me never to hire you as a casting director, in light of your eagerness to cast a film without having read its script.

That's the way it usually works in Hollywood - cast the biggest name you can find and then (re)write the script around them.

That's not the way casting works; that's the way packaging works- crucial difference. It's beside the point, though, because Merrick was neither casting nor packaging; he was 'fantasy casting', where the primary consideration ought to be what's appropriate for the material- again, material he has not seen.

Its freakin Superman, the ultimate boyscout, you don't change that unless they want to go for the Superman from Earth One written by JMS. Routh nailed the boy scout part. Its not hard. It worked. The film around him didn't work as well as it could.

I will give Henry Cavill a chance and actually think he could be a good choice based on costume mock ups, but I do feel that Routh did a good enough job to be given consideration, but whatever. Its not going to happen.

On the subject of directing, I did direct a student play in high school and got the highest grade in the class. So there.

It's not a question of whether Routh is (*ahem*) suitable for the Superman character, in a general sense. I think most would agree with you and I that he is. The question is whether there is someone with performance skills and style more appropriate to the particular subject matter and emotional requirements of this individual movie.

Further, the tone might be very, very different from that of Superman Returns and, as such, there might be a lot of story value in trying to prevent any associations/comparisons in viewers minds.

I don’t know but, she certainly has power and accuracy given that cross and the way she took her PK, which I thought was the most impressive of all the American attempts that day. She nailed it!

Perhaps, the lack of starting is due to her fitness level as compared to coming on late in the game to provide a *spark*, if you will. I don’t know but I defer to the judgment of the coach who seems to be doing an excellent job in managing everything on and off the field.

Sorry, I must have somehow missed your PM . Glad you like it . Although Sony Pictures hasn’t had a home entertainment booth at Comic-Con since around the time Blu-ray won the format war, the theatrical side is again looking to up their presence this year with some of the filmmakers (Marc Webb) and talent from The Amazing Spider-Man scheduled to make an appearance.

What with that, and Steven Spielberg set to appear in person to promote The Adventures of Tin-Tin, Hall H definitely will be where the action is again this year.

The line forms down the street to the left.

JimSD,

Of all the contenders, Cadel looked good yesterday. At this point, I'm wondering if he is simply stronger than both Andy and Alberto.....and the later two know it.

*sigh* I remember when Comic-Con had something to do with comics.

He's been solid so far, but I thought Basso looked like the Basso of old. He looked like it was very easy for him. If Frank Schleck can time trial (huge IF) they all might be in trouble. I think Basso and Cadel have the same coach. Some excellent descending exhibited by one of the top riders today (trying not to spoil anything).

To add some Blu-ray content, when Sony brings out Lawrence of Arabia eventually, I hope they do some nice packaging and a very reasonable price like was done for Bridge on the River Kwai.
