Oh, well. I guess I bought myself a $20+ paperweight stateside here. Not that it really confirms anything (though maybe it will help if it comes to a refund), but the e-mail I received telling me my purchase has been dispatched (July 6) says "Ratatouille [Blu-ray 3D] [Region Free] (Limited Edition)". Guess I should have searched the forums a little harder.

On a side note I did see your posts about the Netherlands' release of "The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet 3D". I'm interested in getting this, and as a Region-A only-er, I understand this version is good to go, correct?

Yes, the Netherlands release of T.S. Spivet EAN# 5412370828897 has been verified to play in REGION A for both the Blu-ray 3D & the 2D BD. See post#96 of "The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet 3D" thread.

Yes. I got it after Paul confirmed it is region A. Works fine and the 3D is fantastic.

When the UK 3D Blu-ray is put into a Region A player, the select language screen menu appears. What ever language is chosen: "This Disc Will not Play Due to the Region Code Setting of the Player." is presented.

Still haven't received a confirmation response from my Amazon.co.uk email.
I received my copy today but from your post I knew what to expect. I contacted Amazon less than a couple of hours ago and here's how they responded:

"I'm sorry to hear about the problem you've had with your order. I've checked and it seems that the Bluray disc is Region B locked. I've reported this to our internal team and they should amend the website. There's no need to return this item. You're welcome to keep, donate or dispose of it--whichever option is most appropriate and convenient for you.
I’ve requested a full refund to your payment card which should be processed within 2 to 3 business days. "

So I got me a free copy of Ratatouille Blu-Ray 3D for my trouble (none). Got to love Amazon. No risk, all reward.

I believe that's what Amazon UK did with the UK release of The Jungle Book, which IIRC they originally labeled region-free but came out Region B/C-locked. They've not only removed the region-free tag, but also put it under review "because a customer recently told us that the item he or she received was not as described."

Ratatouille 3D never ceases to confuse everything,

I got the UK set from Amazon UK when it was released. It was marked as region-free but the 3D Blu is region B locked. I am guessing the German set will also be the same.

The India Ratattouille release has A/B/C on both the disc and the back of the slip, but it is verified B locked.

Same with the German:

Both discs confirmed by decrypter as Region B-locked, despite region-free symbol on packaging & 3D disc (2D disc is correctly labeled).

After reading these posts I put it in my player and sure enough I get a nice big message ' This disc will not play due to the region code setting of the player', only got this 2 days ago and now I'm wondering if the seller knew this, as it was advertised as region free, "I would hope not though".

I don't believe there is any Ratatouille 3d that is region free, I know my UK version is B locked.

A region-free Blu-ray will be a necessity in the coming years for USA 3D lovers.

As someone who has a region free player, regardless of 3d, if your a film aficionado I strongly recommend going region free. It is so good (I get money can be an issue though).

I totally agree! Region free is absolutely the way to go...if feel like I was missing out on so much if I wasn't region free...other countries offer such enticing titles that this country does not
