Is The Patriot not good? Is that why you sold it?

Well I try my best to think through each of my purchases. I like most of my purchases to be loaded with extras while having good picture and audio quality. Unless the films are my favorite films (like The Searchers) or have reference quality (Avatar), a release that has limited extras doesn't deserve a purchase which is the case with The Patriot.

I ask because I was looking to buy it. I don't really care about extras and what not, just a good movie

So pretty much, The Patriot lacks good picture, audio quality, and extras?

I think The Patriot has great picture and audio quality but is lacking in extras. But I just think there are better BD releases and better films than The Patriot. If you are looking for a war film, have you considered Defiance or Saving Private Ryan? Amazon lists The Patriot at USD 15, I don't think The Patriot is worth USD 15.

I did write a user review for The Patriot but based on the scores my review has been given, I think I am alone on this.

KOBE8BYRANT,
At the rate you are going, for every dozen blu-rays you get, you get:
4 action films, 2 animated films, 2 classic films, 1 romantic comedy film, 1 music blu-ray, and 1 import blu-ray.

Your statistics prove that you will have an excellent blu-ray collection, unless other outside factors interfere with your decision-making!

The Blu-ray Statistics Dept. has no other choice than to give you a score of:
96%

Thanks I didnt think that my collection would get rated very well around here. as for your collection a 10/10 its a very diverse and varied collection and you have more blu-rays than i probably ever will. Didnt get to seel my stuff today that will be happening on wednesday. As for the Alvin movies those two I was thinking of selling the first. The second gets lots of play when my younger cousins come over.

Stooge, very interesting collection. Lots of diverse movies, and some great ones at that. A few movies I don't care for, but overall, great collection.

9/10! Great collection, I'd say for the most part we have similar tastes and share quite a few titles aside from a few that I loathe, like Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Hehe...It's a guilty pleasure. I enjoy those movies I also like to think I can have things that will appeal to my little cousins when they're around, not just my fun, blowing things up movies

As for you Adrock, great collection. You have quite good taste, as you said very similar to mine. And you have Zodiac, so your already ok in my book

I finally went and added the rest of my BD collection after having 7 movies for the last year.

Part of my collection is still on HD DVD and I have been trying not to re-buy movies on BD that I already bought on HD DVD during the format war. That's why I don't have titles like Serenity or The Matrix in my BD collection. It would be more convenient to have them on Blu now, but I'd rather buy movies I don't already have.

Zen Amako,
Your collection is probably the second best blu-ray collection I've seen in here (first is Pro-Bass). I want your whole collection mainly for the imports! From Freedom to Space Ace to Asian imports to UK imports - just a beautiful collection! Just perfect!
12 out of 10!

I also have close to 300 HD-DVD(some of them imports). I am suprised that many of them still havent made it to BD. Some of them have been ported to BD but missing features or HD-DVD version has superior PQ and/or SQ. Some titles although are improved on BD.i.e I have Star Trek OS Season 1 on both BD and HD-DVD. BD has unaltered effects in HD but HD-DVD has 1 more behind the scenes feature than the BD

Thanks, toddly. You have a nice collection yourself. It looks like we actually have similar tastes. I might need to pick up Equilibrium or Strange Days.

There were a couple of titles I couldn't add because they weren't in the database, like Oshii's Avalon (from Japan) and the Asian release of Rocky IV.

Also, I do have a few movies that I wouldn't consider great, but there's something about them that I like. For example, the Transformers sequel is definitely not a good movie, but the PQ on the Wal-Mart "big screen edition" blew me away.

I'm also a little OCD about not keeping movies in my collection that I don't like. For example, I bought the Spider-Man and X-Men trilogies and sold off the threequels.

Yeah, I can't get rid of my HD DVD player yet because some titles haven't made it to BD (Streets of Fire, for example) or the HD DVD has a better transfer than the North American BD (T2, Total Recall). I know a lot of people on this site think of HD DVDs as coasters now, but HD DVD is still clearly better than a standard def DVD.

Zen-amako: Browsing through your collection made me want to start getting into imports as I noticed that most of yours are region free. I bought Belle de Jour because I had bought other Studio Canal BD's and just took for granted that they would all be region free, and when that one did not work I decided I would just play it safe and try to stay away from them. I really want Almost Famous and will probably order that later in the week. I like that you have Dragons Lair and Space Ace in your collection. I didn't even know about Space Ace until I saw it in your collection. I give your collection a 9.

The weirdest thing is that I bought Belle de Jour from Barnes & Noble's web site, and not from overseas. I'm pretty sure that title was region locked for licensing reasons (Miramax has the rights for the U.S.). The studio is usually a good indicator of whether a movie will be region free, but there can be exceptions, so it's a good idea to do some research first. This site comes in pretty handy for that.

You have a rather large collection and a good variety of movies (including some great Criterions).

Jeez, talk about quanity! You have the type of blu-ray collection that people would have in the year 2014. It seems like it would take years to gain all those. But for you, someone's making a bit of the Canadian dollar in your family!
I'm happy you have the Mortal Kombat Canadian blu-ray, but other than that, you gonna need to be more selective, wow! For every good film you have, you also have a stinker. Some of those blu-rays aren't going to get playtime in your lifetime the way you are going!
A++++ for quantity!
A- for quality!
A+++++++++ if you ever plan to open a video store!

Awww no need to mock me there

I'm running on a budget here, hence why my choosiness. If I had more money, I would definitely be more open to splurging out on a wider range of films.
