So if it's a box set, then this one must be the real deal:

LOL, I am always surprised how many times Blu fans have a "prove it" mentality (if you get something on sale, "you better scan the receipt or it never happened"). And, here, though I have a lengthy history of mentioning new Blu titles coming out, each new title is "prove it." LOL, true story: back in 1964, when I was a kid, I told some kids I heard that the Beatles were coming out with a movie called "A Hard Day's Night" and they said that was a stupid title and that I was making it up. Bet they became Blu-ray fans. : )
Well, I prefaced my post with "Don't take this the wrong way, just sayin'", but it appears you did take it the wrong way. You don't need to "prove" anything. My thought was that perhaps Sony didn't want the Blu-ray release revealed until they were prepared to formally announce it, and asked LA Times to remove that paragraph from the online edition, it obviously can't be redacted from the print edition. Or, the date may have just been wrong, as Nov. 14 is a Wednesday. Thanks for posting the scan, it was interesting enough for me to find the online article so that I could read the entire article.

No problem. I really didn't take it the wrong way. My comment was directed in a more general way to many people, based more on how many times I have seen people on the message boards doubting new or sales posted by others who have been here for years. Hence, my use of the "without a scan, it didn't happen." Beginning to think everyone is from Missouri, LOL.

Maybe we could contact the editor Susan King (email at the bottom of the article) and inquire as to why that last sentence was omitted from the online article. It seems strange that just that one line would not be included. I wouldn't really say that's any way to condense the article or anything. It's possible Sony or whoever saw that in the already printed article and told them to omit it for the online version because they want to announce it themselves.

Wow, the French box set has FOUR blu ray discs. How much content can they possibly have? But I guess this means that the movie will probably be spread over two discs. Yeah, this will certainly fall into the "best looking blu ray ever" category. The original 65mm negative scanned at an insane resolution possibly spread over two discs with high bit rates and no DNR. I can't imagine how amazing it will look.

There's a good reason for that. There are plenty of idiots and trolls online who post false information either because they're intellectually disabled or because they don't understand the difference between a desire and fact or just for the fun of getting people to react (the equivalent of taking a dump in a public place and waiting to see how people react). People post false facts that should not be subject to interpretation or they post opinions that are not based upon any facts, because in the internet world, anyone's opinion is supposedly equal to anyone else's opinion (a point of view that I totally disagree with).

And when I read a post, I might not remember that the person posting this information is the same person who posted that other information that proved to be reliable.

Back when Amazon.fr had up the listing it was actually indicated to be on just one disc

The standard version is still listed and you can see the that the feature film is on disc 1, and the making of and interview is on disc 2. I believe hte deluxe set had an extra disc with a soundtrack included. Or it might have been a DVD I can't recall

BD disc 1 : le film
BD Disc 2 : Plus d’1 heure de making of + Interview inédite de Peter O’Toole

Yeah I like it, though I would still rather the poster image they used for the 50th Anniversary screening. I also still don't like the BD case's artwork.

I think the BD case might be for the less expensive version?

Shell, one of the nice things about the photo is that it shows all 4 discs are Blu-rays! Hopefully, that will mean no DVDs. But those could just be dummies because that Blu case they show doesn't look like it will hold 4 Blus.

I think it'll still be included in this set. I'm thinking, It'll be the big outer box with the standard BD case inside and the Hardcover book. Two of the discs (the CD, and 3rd BD) will be inside the book itself, with the first 2 BD's in the standard case I believe.
