I also pre-ordered from Az UK. $20 bucks to my door. Why wait?

If the US release date is Nov and the UK one stands at September then I may have to buy both because there's no way I can wait 2 months.

The Los Angeles Times newspaper had an article in it today about the special screening tomorrow night of the restoration at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences...

"The restored 'Lawrence of Arabia' will have a nationwide theatrical release on Oct. 4th, with a Blu-ray box set due Nov. 14th."

The important part of the article:

I'm in seeing a epic on the big screen is a treat. October 4th will be great. I hope that the bluray set is nice and not one of those huge boxes with swag. I just want the discs. Also I tried to learn the difference between 35mm and 70mm lens and just didn't quite understand. Any help would be great.

70mm stands for the width of the film, not the focuslenght of the lenses used.35mm is normal-although many modern movies use digital cameras now,so that's a whole new kettle of fish.Think of the imagesize of 70mm as 4 times that of 35mm.Now we're talking quality

I wanted to read the whole article, so I found it at LATimes.com. For some reason the online version ends with the quote from Crisp "so we wanted to work with that", and doesn't have that last paragraph about nationwide theatrical release Oct. 4 and the Blu-ray release Nov. 14.

Yes, I know, which is why I showed a scan of the important part of the article in my post. It is not unusual for an online article to be a condensed version of the actual newspaper article.

See below:

LOL, I am always surprised how many times Blu fans have a "prove it" mentality (if you get something on sale, "you better scan the receipt or it never happened"). And, here, though I have a lengthy history of mentioning new Blu titles coming out, each new title is "prove it." LOL, true story: back in 1964, when I was a kid, I told some kids I heard that the Beatles were coming out with a movie called "A Hard Day's Night" and they said that was a stupid title and that I was making it up. Bet they became Blu-ray fans. : )

I wonder if the Sept. 10th date in the UK will stick, or it'll get pushed back to November as well?

Likewise, and I can't help but wonder how far or where I will have to go to find a theater doing a proper screening.

That is odd. I guess we should just be happy they didn't match the date the movie premiered in the U.S. because that wasn't until Dec. 16th, 1962. The key word in the sentence may be "due", which is a way of saying it could change, I guess.

I'm hoping they have screening times during the day. I'd love to go in around 11 am and not have to worry about anyone talking during the Overture.
