apparently I jumped the gun and thought the Fathom Event screening was a satellite feed, according to an exhibitor he stated that the film will be released in DCP form: 2K and 4K depending on the theater's projector/processor

I'm definitely going now, since Mazza just got three new Sony 4K projectors on their largest screens.

Unfortunately, the extras are just as interesting, if not more so, than the ones on the second disc. Such as, the fabled deleted scene.

You can DL Madden vs buying it on disc. HDD get only cheaper. I can see DL full 1080p movies, same size as the movie on disc, have it the moment of release along with the extras and available to DL again on the same machine or a future one in case it crashes. Discs crack and get scratched. For some, like me, discs are becoming a storage issue and don't want to appear on the next episode of Hoarders. So for some its a solution.
Here's my two cents. I like Blu rays. I like to have a physical copy. I have a few streamed movies that were free and I don't feel like I own them. A physical copy I can take to some else's house. I have more freedom. I like the way things look on a shelf too. While I don't collect these, many people collect steelbooks. I'm 34 so maybe I'm too old to be in the growing up with streaming crowd, but I like physical media. I still buy CD's. But then I put everything on my iPod and use the CD's as backups. And sometimes, I'll just grab a CD and listen to it. I bought DVD's, now BD's. There will always be people who feel like a certain media is old when for most it isn't. I have a 46 inch LED tv. Most people still have basic LCD. Someone with a 3d TV will say how everyone is switching and LCD is now old. My view is that we should all just enjoy whatever we want. You like Blu rays? Great! Keep them. I got so many discs from Best Buy during their trade in and save deals. I have no plans to change. If you like streaming? Great! Go with what you like. If you like DVD's, fine. More people still buy DVD's than Blu rays. With that in mind, it'll be years before streaming picks up in popularity. But each person should do what they like, get wha they like. If it makes you happy, great!

With LofA, I've got the UK version on preorder. UCE's are just too expensive for more and take up too much space. I have the Transformers Matrix of Leadership DVD box set and I only recently found a space to show it. I prefer regular boxed items. But if the US stand alone version is only one disc, I think I'll keep the UK version on preorder. I regret having bought the Ben Hur BD/DVD combo from BB when the UK version has the extras disc. I won't make that mistake twice. If the movie disc is the same, then I'll take the version with the extras over the one without them, especially since the price is almost the same.

Very happy to see this as I was getting nervous after the other posts.

I saw a big leap with Jaws including HD streaming and HD Digital Copies for multiple platforms including Apple products and Vudu that I hadn't see with any movie I'd bought yet. But I expect that trend to continue and spread. And age has nothing to do with it.

Heck my wife is paranoid about touching them LOL.

It is all about taking care of them.

And we actually watch our movies. They aren't "the precious", sitting on a shelf to look at the outside cover....we prefer what's on the inside. But hey, when you guys appear on Hoarders, post to the forum so we can all tune in!

This LoA Collector's Edition is going to be the gem of my UCE display case! I can, safely, say I will be a tad nervous when this finally shows up, after all these years!

It looks like the "single" US disc info has been updated and now says 2-disc...

I assume it contains the some of the bonus features which we thought would only be on the US Collectors Edition and the UK basic edition.

Hopefully we find out more, however at this point I think I may still be leaning towards the US Collectos Edition.

I still have to get that BOX set. It is the coolest looking box set of the Year, maybe because it reminds me of my LaserDisc sets!

Although I hate the movie, I like the Titanic box.

Went ahead and ordered the UK 2 disc. I shouldn't be spending money on the box set anyway, and neither do I wish to wait an additional 1-2 months to enjoy this gorgeous film on BD.
