Now that the US version is listed at 2 disc, and seeing it has extra minutes, I'm starting to wonder if it was a mistake to get the UK version in place of the US version, despite liking that I'll be getting it 2 months before the US version is out. Ultimately, I just want the best version.
It is 227 minutes. If you're referring to the product page on Amazon, they're most of the times recycled from other versions, maybe from the DVD which was in PAL. And the UK version also has 2 discs.

EDIT: Red Dust posted this in the UK section. Region ABC, 227 minutes.

Anyone picking up the UK basic edition this week? I'm still holding out for the US collectors edition, but I may not be able to wait, probably end up buying both.

Yes, I'm going with the UK edition. Big box sets are not my thing, and while I'll miss out on the 3rd disc's extras - it's not enough for me to put off owning this for another 2 months.

I've been looking for what the special features for the UK regular and boxset editions will be compared to the US editions.

Ultimatly the US collectors edition will be the best and have everything any collector would want. However the US and UK basic editions will also have some bonus material.

Hopefully we'll find out shortly what bonus feature will be in all editions.

Preferrably Dr. Svet Anastov (sp?) instead of Jefrrey Kaufman OR someone else who hates film grain. This title deserves a 7/5 and would possibly get an 10/5 if this were on a BD100.

After seeing the screenshots, it is making the wait for this to arrive from the UK almost unbearable. I can not wait to bask in this blu rays glory.

I know what you mean. My last UK delivery took three and a half weeks. I hope this doesn't take as long - I can't wait to check out this beauty on my hdtv. Though I'm going to hold off on watching the whole thing until the October theater screening.

Can't wait for mine as well. Usually takes 7-10 days to reach me. It could arrive around the same time as my Indiana Jones Collection.

Even if there was a 100gb BDMV disc, it wouldn't really make much visible difference. AVC (when done right) at BD bitrates is more or less transparent.

Just bought three tickets for the 7:00 p.m. theatrical showing here in the states on 10/4. Looks like there are extensive "pre-show" bonuses...problem is, I've asked my wife to not watch Lawrence until it came to Blu-Ray. I wanted her to see it in the best form possible. So she's never seen it, and I'm concerned these introductions and what not are going to spoil the show.

"This special event features an exclusive introduction from Lawrence of Arabia star and Academy AwardŽ nominee Omar Sharif, newsreel footage of the New York premiere, as well as footage of King Hussein visiting the film set. In addition, Academy AwardŽ winning Director Martin Scorsese will talk about the over-arching themes of Lawrence of Arabia and its influence on other iconic films in a recent, exclusive never-before-seen interview."

But there'd even be less compression and even far greater detail. Have you ever done a supposed high bitrate, far over 50GB, 1080p test conversion of a 4K cinema file? I'm talking about a really widescreen film with an over three hour running time. Even I feel Dances with Wolves USA release would've benefitted even more strongly with a BD100 and really maximised the bitrate. Guess I'll have to wait for Holograpgic Versatile Disc to see how films would look even greater to the 4K and 8K masters.
Majority of the reason this looks great is because it was scanned at 8K and was taken the time along with care to make it still appear to be a 65mm/70mm film, especially with the film grain. True AVC is literally one of my favourite current codecs but even the same movie released in a different country on Blu-ray can even look far superior to a version released here in the United States. It's also why I enjoy importing.
There ought to be a strict standard for all companies not to DNR/EE the hell out of their releases if the release in question originates from film grain.
All-in-all, Lawrence of Arabia looks absolutely stunning for the disc space it's on. Deserves solid 5s all around and a very highly recommended, including bolding, for the review.

EDIT: This is one of those rare times when I'll actually be glad to buy the Collector's Edition, even though I wouldn't have much space to put it. Excellent job Sony Home Entertainment and those involved!

EDIT EDIT: Now I'd like Lord Jim to be on Blu-ray.
