Can anybody with the UK set answer a question for me? You'd be doing me a big favor.
Does the set have the "Martin Scorsese" inrtoduction, and if so, does he spoil anything about the movie? I'm talking my wife to the theatrical showing on the 4th, and she's never seen it. The theatrical event thinks the Martin Scorsese pre-show discussion is a bonus, and I have to disagree. I'm concerned he's going to be spilling some beans, and I'd rather that she see the movie "clean" without someone trying to explain things for her, or discuss the themes beforehand. I saw the movie in 1988 without having even seen a trailer. I knew zip, zero, zilch about the movie, and I'd like others in my family to have the same experience. Anyway, if you've seen the intro, and could let me know what it says, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Last edited by Ernest Rister; 09-16-2012 at 02:09 AM. |

![]() Its not a bad idea to split the film up over the course of a couple nights. Nothing wrong with that, IMO. Watch a few hours and when the Intermission comes on, stop it there and watch the rest the next day. Let it sink in. We do this with the LOTR film and some others. Works great. |

But for The Bridge on the River Kwa, I'm still looking for a long soundtrack to use where the DVD goes. Only thing which would've made this release better would've been the film disc only having subtitles for the other dubbed languages instead of audio. More due to giving the main feature and even greater boost in bitrate. I love this movie and originally I owned the first release DVD in the faux cloth or whatever it was case. Sold it when I heard the SuperBit was released, haven't even bought the SuperBit and glad I waited while being impatient for this release. Congratulations again for Sony Home Entertainment for a perfect release! ![]() |

The Lawrence blu-ray is spectacular. I have nothing but praise for the work Sony did with this one.
I watched much of it slack-jawed at how gorgeous the desert landscapes looked. The detail in the faces is remarkable, too. Oh, yeah - the film isn't too bad either. For my money, it's one of the greatest achievements in the history of cinema. A collaboration of some of the very finest artists the industry has known. Under special features ( not product details) it says two disc edition. I called Amazon and asked about the change, that this is not what I ordered, and that the picture and info were for a different edition. The person I spoke with couldn't give me any information. Guess I'll just keep checking before it ships. Just in case, I ordered the special edition from Amazon UK. |
