Wondering if anyone here preordered this from either deepdiscount, buy.com, or overstock.com? Their prices are a little cheaper but have seen some bad reviews for those sites.

I've waited about 6 years, so 2 more months is a drop in the bucket. IMO, well worth wait for the Collector's Edition.
Not to mention all the other releases that I've been inundated with these last couple months!

It does seem a little *bass ackwards* to release a lesser version months before the collectors edition.

I got to see LOA in Dallas a few weeks ago at the AMC Northpark and it looked spectacular. I was truly amazed at the restoration effort. I just could not see how they could make a movie look that good on the big screen. I look forward to the bluray release.

I suspect that honor is being reserved for the Collector's Edition .

The Amazon.com product page has "Numbered, mounted 70mm film cell" under "Special Features".

In the OP you can link to the Amazon page which has a breakdown of the discs. I'm sure it's been posted a few times if you feel like scanning through dozens of pages.

This can't come soon enough. The restoration looks excellent. I wish it would have been spread across two discs, but this will have to do.

Really, i'm glad they were able to fit it all on one disc so don't have to switch them out.

Is Amazon the cheapest for the collectors edition or will best buy have it around the same price?

That's kind of hard to answer, at this time, as the price could still drop further. Recently Amazon seems to be waiting for BB to drop their prices, then will match by release day. Will that happen here? It's anyone's guess.
Best advice I can give you is this: Preorder it from Amazon, as you can cancel at any time up until your order ships. Typically 2-3 days before release. That way if it drops(and rises) you are locked in at the low price. Also if BB drops, you then have the option of waiting to see if Amazon PM's(which they almost always do), OR cancel and go with BB.
Bottom line: It's always good to have multiple purchasing options

I wish this was like the Ben-Hur release where the UK edition was the same as the North American UCE minus all the swag.

Not only is the price out of my range, I can't fit this oversized box anywhere.

So the UCE for Lawrence of Arabia is the only way to get that extra 3rd disc of bonus features, correct?
