Question

For anyone who has it or has seen it unopened, I need a question answered:

I don't have room for the big box and swag. But I want the 3rd disc of the UCE so does this come with a smaller blu-ray sized case inside the bigger box?

If so, I'm all over it...

Careful, it could become an addiction like steels and digibooks, lol

I've never seen it either.

I'll consider "blind buying" it once the price drops to $9.99.
$19 is to much to pay for an old catalog title.

It's not even a matter of wanting things for free or ignoring all the restoration work. It's the concept that somehow, an older movie is worth less than a newer movie and on average (and definitely in the case of Lawrence), just the opposite is true.

But I guarantee you that many people on this site will not understand and will not care for Lawrence. Much of the audience has lost its taste (or never had it) for intelligent movies about real events. I realized this a few weeks ago when TCM played "Judgement At Nuremberg" (right after it played "Inherit the Wind"). I realized that those movies would never get financing today and neither would Lawrence. How could they when the studios want to make films like the "Transformers" series. I think "Lincoln" only got made because it's Spielberg and of course, Skyfall beat it at the boxoffice.

Lincoln is still in limited release right now though, so its actually done very well for itself.
You're totally right about all the other stuff though, tastes have been on the decline for quite some time and attention spans are almost non-existent these days.
But after seeing a lot of crap movies like Battleship and Dark Shadows flop hard and ones like Moonrise Kingdom and The Master doing so well for themselves this year, I've been gaining a bit more faith in audiences.
Just a bit though.

I definitely agree about non-existent attention spans and declining tastes (at least when looking at the whole movie going public). As the other poster said, movies like Lawrence could never be made today. I do think its ok to enjoy movies like Transformers and the like, but respect should be shown to the classic greats, at least if you're a true film buff.

Just picked up the standard copy at Best Buy at a midnight event, and while I am sure it's been reported already, the standard release does have a slipcover.

Picked up Black Ops and made them go in the back and get this.

Slipcover was a nice surprise and beautiful.

My amazon order came and the set looks good. Mine was shipped inside a cardboard box which works fine since the set is inside a hard plastic shell.

Just trapped at work so I won't open it until I get home

Sorry no... the set is just placed in an amazon Shipping box... but the outer Box Set has a plastic outer shell type case that seems to prevent dented corners etc. So as long as UPS doesn't drop a heavy box on top of your shipping box the set should be fine.

I waffled on the CE for a bit this morning, but decided I needed to reign in my spending a bit.

Picked up a copy of the standard edition over lunch. The slip was indeed a pleasant surprise, I wasn't expecting it to have one.
