Picked up the standard set this morning at my local BB. I had to hunt it down, finally locating it on the stocking cart with all the yet to be shelved new releases. This particular BB only had two copies of the regular release, and no copies of the collector's edition!

the set is really thick it isn't in flimsy toy packaging cardboard like Blade Runner was, this is a high quality set.

here is a snap of side of the top portion compared to my CC blu of Weekend.

It is hard to see the harder shell plastic but it is there.

I've not watched the film itself yet but the CE package is just wonderful. Can't wait to see the film in HD tonight on my 65 inch Panasonic plasma TV

What I'm talking about is the Plastic Slip thing that goes over the set... It's that thin plastic that gets easily dented and scratched and bent. Just like the one that came with the Blade Runner Ultimate Collector's Set(I'm assuming):





My point, and concern, being that if it has a bit of a tumble while in transit, like everything that comes from Amazon usually does... That Plastic outter Case is not going to arrive in Mint Condition. And that is significant because that outer Plastic case has now been shown to be what has the Title Printed on it etc, making it essential to the set.

I should have just waited and bought in store instead of going with Amazon.

This sucks.

if anything... if you don't like the condition try to buy a copy at Costco for 56.99 and just return your amazon order.

Sorry I thought you meant the new Blade Runner box set... yeah that is the kind of plastic that is on the Lawrence set but it surrounds the full set and it is tighter so honestly I don't see a lot of issues.. but I am anal retentive so I understand. I am pleased with my set from looking at it. (Waiting to open it once I am home.) I wonder what film frame I got.

I have a lot of other bluray collector sets (ben hur, gone with the wind, wizard of oz, bond, mel brooks, 10 commandments, etc ) and this one by far appears to be the most sturdily built. The book inside is very nice and feels much more like a real book than the ones in the other sets which are more like oversized booklets. This set reminds me of the laserdisc sets I owned in the past. This set is a try display piece.

In case anyone is wondering about the soundtrack it appears to more than just a sampler. It has 16 tracks and runs a a little over 40 minutes. I'm assuming they are the same tracks on the original vinyl LP release with the 2 bonus tracks. When I ripped it to my computer it didn't automatically add track info and album art so i donlt know the track names. On the CD is says its performed by the london philharmonic and has a 2012 copyright date.

I'm not sure how mnay sets were produced but my film frame number is 40403 so there is at least 40k sets out there. Its been a while since I saw the film so I'm not sure the context of my film frame but it has a bunch of dudes in robes in a tent.

I usually go with Amazon because I would rather take my chances with the shipping than the brick and mortar stores near me. My observation is that every store that has something like that in stock puts one of those horrendous loss prevention tags with the plastic wiring strapped down so hard that it bends things up on the corners!

Just got my set, and it is worth every penny. Too bad I cannot sit down and watch it until Thursday.

The Frame that I got is Lawrence and the others in the Map Room and number 07718.

There are a couple issues with inner box, couple corners were torn, but not something you can really see when its put away. And the following on one outer corner (not torn all the way through), but not sure if its worth returning, it would be too much of a hassle.
