I remember seeing that. Robert Harris said, over at the HTF, that Sony did a HD master of Lawrence about 10 years ago. It was the basis of the two DVD releases back then. When they went to start working on the Blu-ray they (Harris and Grover Crisp) realized that it wasn't good enough. That's when Mr. Crisp, to the good fortune of Lawrence fans everywhere, decided a new restoration was in order. You can see the results of this great decision as soon as the movie starts. Breathtaking is a good adjective to use here.

So while I was disappointed that they didn't release a Blu of LoA back in 2008 I knew the wait would be well worth it. I appreciate them A) taking the time to do it right and B) not setting us all up for a double-dip.

This is certainly my candidate for catalog Blu of the year in a year of great catalog releases such as Jaws, Indy Jones, and Titanic to name a few.

Btw, I got a fantastic film frame in my Lawrence box, from one of my favorite scenes. It's an exhausted Lawrence walking with Ali right after he rescues Gasim from the sun's anvil while the rest of the Arabs cheer him on. "Nothing is written."

I'm not in any immediate need to see this, but I'm pretty pissed off that DD is still backordered.

Default soundtrack CD

Can anyone tell me what the "two previously unreleased" tracks are on the CD that comes with the boxed Blu-Ray set? Or a full track list would work too. I have looked everywhere for this, but there is no information on it.
My deep hope is that the "you have a funny sense of fun" or "blowing out the match" music cue is on the CD. Especially since this is the best example of the sweeping Lawrence theme in the whole film, but has never been available.

Post #1144 in this thread on page 58 has a scan of the CD track list.
The 2 previously inrelased tracks are: "Entr' Acte" and "Exit Music"

oh well....not sure why the track is on there twice since the Entr'acte and the Exit music are the same recording...something Jarre also did in Zhivago.

Not a shot of O'Toole, but a decent one of Alec Guiness...

Got my DD order on Saturday. Beautiful set! As an added bonus, mine came with two film cells! Will try to post pics tomorrow.

The first time I saw Lawrence of Arabia was a pan & scanned airing on HBO or Cinemax one Thanksgiving morning over a decade ago. Would love to watch this in HD and widescreen glory on Thursday morning if I can find the time.

Personally I don't think so, but for the sake of those holding out for a lower price, I hope I'm wrong!

Still nothing for me

Pre-order-backorder-preorder-now backorder again.

The more interesting changes was when it changed from 1 to 2 and price they charged me didn't change in the total. It did change back to one so I don't think I'm getting a B1G1 deal

Weird, but still waiting.

Watched an hour last night. Fabulous transfer. Could see every detail on the actors faces.

David Lean was a visual genius. Just about every frame looks like a postcard or painting.

Well, would have preferred another frame, but there is a lot of desert in the movie!

Very nice frame! I was wondering if there were going to be a landscape frams, sans people, and it looks like you've answered that.
