Well, I got my copy for $2.50 after bogo and a $5 RZ cert (also got Gandhi for the same price)

I just watched part one last night. Incredible. Every single frame is magnificent. This has Thee best PQ out of my whole collection.

I blind bought it because of the BOGO sale as well, and I can't wait to watch it. I just don't have time, and don't want to watch half today/half tomorrow. I want to soak it in in one night.

I have to say this is one of the most beautifully BD's I've watched. Truly a masterpiece and great film. I had to break it up into 2 nights when I watched it a month ago.

I don't believe this edition had a slip. To the best of my knowledge, no-one has ever reported seeing one - and I never saw one in stores.

This edition does have a slip. Some people were able to find it during BBY's current BOGO sale. The ones I came across did not have a slip.

Thanks to another member's idea, I found one with a slip at Target and price matched BBY's price. I didn't really want anything that was on sale at BBY. The slip is a little creased on top due to the plastic security case they put it in, but when the cashier took the BD out of the case, it turned out to look just fine. On another note, I never realized how pixelated the artwork looks.

Yeah, I did an in store pickup at Best Buy and the one they pulled for me just happened to be the last one with a slip. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least! Here is a picture of it I just found...

There was a shorter cut of the film before the 1988 restoration. The film was cut due to the fact that theaters could only have 2 showings a day, because of the nearly 4 hour run-time. So when they decided to have the film restored in the late 80's, they also added those original scenes back into the film.

Some of the actors also came back to re-dub their voices for some of those cut scenes when the original restoration took place in 1988. Which is why the 227 cut is in fact the preferred director's cut by director David Lean and pretty much everyone else.

So I officially got this and Brazil ordered with the money I got for my birthday last week. Lawrence is a blind buy but from everything I hear, it's more than worth the price.
