Not really. How can you be confused about something you don't know?

Up until the product hits the stores, everything, sell sheet info, insider info, interviews with principals, probably even press releases is subject to change. I even have a DVD that was not officially released for more than a year after I purchased it at retail (Boomerang, I think-it was one of the Fox noirs). I just received a wonderful set of films that pre-release info stated that it was to have a feature length doc included as an extra, didn't happen. I'll just leave it at that.

Big deal, I have over 600 BD's the vast majority of which when given release dates were actually released on those dates.
If you would like to bring logic into the discussion: Right now we have zero. An announcement by SPHE would, at the very least, give us something. Something > Nothing.
I never said getting an official release date would but this BD on your shelf, only that it would clear up this so-called confusion....not really sure what everyone is "confused" about. It's quite simple: It ain't out yet!

Oh, but a few hints now & then helps drive that speculation. How about just one hint on the burning question uppermost in everyone's mind: Will it come with a magnet?

True, but he sets the quality standard, and probably fights for it with the front office, when those in similar roles at other studios too often settle for "yeah, good enough".

It's the leadership thing...

Hey Cochise ,
The only worthy magnet for inclusion with the Blu-ray of LoA would be on the order of this…

Well, I kinda think that ‘leadership thing’ would also apply to some in the ‘front office’ who have been astute and caring enough (to the heritage of motion pictures) not only to have renewed his contract for so long; but also, to have signed off on his various executive promotions through the years.

Two observations:

~A magnet that strong would probably earse the BD.
~That guy has way too much free time on his hands.

Dashed hopes.
Deep depression.
Even perhaps suicidal thoughts over not having had expectations fulfilled. I do try to do my humble part for the health and well-being of all the Blu-ray.com membership throughout the world.

I was thinking in terms of separate packaging….for another enjoyable hobby seems to be shipping logistics foreplay prior to actually receiving and watching the Blu-ray movies.

As to your other observation, I have no comment, as I do not want to receive any threatening PMs from anybody.

Penton,

Have you thought about the opppsite effect you might have set into motion with your good natured ideal? This is the year 2012. Perhaps your message was the catalyst of the upcoming end of the world!!!

Or maybe it was just like you said!

Hey, when it comes out it comes out. I just got Girl w/the Dragon Tattoo in the mail today, so I'm looking forward to seeing that SPHE vehicle this weekend. I know, I'm a little late to the show, but a 15month old running around does tend to cause delays!

P-M, you better keep me in mind if/when some sweet LoA swag comes around!!

Hmm, nearly 105,000 views, good to see.

At least Blu-ray.com membership doesn't think only old movies demand their attention.

Maybe if there was less "thriving", we'd actually have time to watch some Blu-ray movies.

I saw LOA in the theater in the summer of 1963. I actually saw it three times. Back then it took awhile for the movies to finally make it around to where I lived. I have owned it on VHS, LD, and DVD. I am patiently waiting for the Blu-ray announcement (Which we all believe will be this year). I also hope that there will be a screening here.. so I can remember what it was, to watch Lawrence of Arabia as a 14 year old kid back in 1963.

Oh sure, I know Penton-Man. It's a team effort as much as any other field, which tends to be synergistic anyway.

From a consumer standpoint though, I just know that when I see 'Grover Crisp' associated with a catalogue Blu-ray title, I can trust that it will be the best it can be given the available time, resources, and state of technology. So it's just an expedient to use his name...sort of like how 'James Cameron' has become a stand-in for the army of extremely talented techs that he relies on...plus all those relationships he's forged with execs who now implicitly trust his judgment.

You're right of course - Mr. Crisp is not alone in this - but I will continue to refer to him by name because he's become synonymous with the quality of the 'brand'.
