I shouldn't be buying much right now, but I am about to pull the trigger on this set. I feel like I am doing myself a huge disservice for not having seen this film before! As a film aficionado, I NEED it in my collection.

It's totally up to you, of course...but the way I see it: If you're ever going to spend money on a more expensive "Collector's Edition", LoA is the one to spend on.
I can't, possibly, imagine a fan being let down with the CE version. It's just that good.

I have never seen this movie. Is it worth a blind buy? I have 20 dollars in Best Buy certificates so I could get BB to price match and get it for around 25 with tax.

You definitely have to see it. It's one of the best films ever made! This is Hollywood at it's finest.

Good deal! I think you'll be quite happy when it arrives.
If you have the time, snap a pic of your film cell.

I agree. I am old enough to have see Lawrence of Arabia twice in the theater in 1963. The film was released in 1962 but it was in the spring of '63 before it made it to where I live. I was awe-struck. To this day it is one of the top five films I have ever seen, and I am very happy that I own the UCE. Peter O'Toole probably would have won the oscar in most any other year, but I must admit, Gregory Peck gave one of the best performance of all time as Atticus Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird. If you do not have LOA UCE you should grab it. It is indeed worth every penny.

Assuming you like intelligent movies about actual history and don't need excessive violence (although this film has plenty of war violence), sex, vulgarities, robots, aliens or teens behaving badly. If you need any of that, you'll hate this movie. If you don't, as moviecriticsonline said, it's one of the finest films ever made containing not only great performances, but absolutely incredible cinematography and it was all shot on location.

I need to take a picture still but got mine today and watching with a friend tomorrow who has never seen it! Amazon didn't package it that great so some damage to cardboard and plastic case but I think Amazon is going to refund me enough to be happy overall...

I should be getting my set in the next couple days. Will post a picture of the film cell.

This may sound silly, but were these film cells actually used in theaters somewhere?

As I understand, they are newly printed, but actual 70m cell, not a Senitype or other manufactured collectible.

This might seem like a stupid question, but is each 70mm film cell in this collector's edition unique? Or is there a specific set of scenes that they are all chosen from?

From what I've seen and read on this thread, each film cell is different.

Some film cells may look similar in image due to the fact that it's within a few frames from each other, but they are different images if you look closely.

Now since I just bought this set a couple days ago, I'm most likely going to get a film cell image that's near or close to near the end of the film, since I didn't purchase this set during it's initial release in 2012. I could be wrong, but based on the limited edition number listed on the cardboard that holds the film cell, the lower the number is, you're most likely going to get a film cell from a scene that's towards the beginning of the film.

I don't want this big ugly box of junk. Why didn't they release a Digi-book as well??
