A very nice coffee table book is junk to you? And bonus discs with loads of content?

And the discs are packaged in a regular case, too.

The coffee table book is pretty much a Criterion-level booklet in larger form.

Now since I just bought this set a couple days ago, I'm most likely going to get a film cell image that's near or close to near the end of the film, since I didn't purchase this set during it's initial release in 2012. I could be wrong, but based on the limited edition number listed on the cardboard that holds the film cell, the lower the number is, you're most likely going to get a film cell from a scene that's towards the beginning of the film.
How is that? They are not sequential shipped. You might as well get film cell #1. It's random.

Just watched this and has anybody else noticed or can check if they can see what looks like a video dropout around 2hrs 14mins 7secs - the scene where Jack Hawkins (Genereal Allenby) accompanies Peter O'Toole to the officer's mess - the dropout is just below the right hand ceiling fan and is only noticeable for a split second.

Yup, some sort of video glitch.

Default Amazon Price

Question: Would you say that $43 is a good price for the collector's set?? I have a gift card for Amazon and I'm wondering if I jump on it or should wait if it's ever been lower. Fry's was mentioned a few pages back for $29.99, but I have no idea when it would be that price again and with taxes and shipping would probably be close to $40.

I've had the BD from the library (not collector's) and was crying at how gorgeous the image quality was. One of the best BD buys, clearly. I wonder if it perhaps looks too good, that Lean might feel it's missing the filmic quality it had for a more digitally perfect image.

Have ypu considered Ben-Her UCE? it's the perfect companion set
I been considering the Ben-Hur set, but not sure yet. I enjoy that film, but not as much as Lawrence. Although, the price on the Ben-Hur UCE set is pretty reasonable on Amazon.

Holy cow! This collector's set is huge!! I just saw it in person at Barnes and Noble. Of course, they were charging an obscenely high amount. Questions: What is the absolute cheapest you have seen the collector's edition??? Also, how nice is the book that comes with it??

I've seen the regular BD for $4.99 at Best Buy. That is very hard to pass up when the larger set can be close to 10x that price.

I believe $29.99 is the lowest it has ever been. And the book alone is worth at least twice that asking price in my opinion, it's amazing and is a great coffee table book.

Thanks---yeah, I was hoping the book was great. I've only seen the photo of the mirage page and the Spielberg quote. It seems like it is quite a large book with significant insight into the film and its most stunning images. I'll keep an eye out for $29.99. Is the draw for the third disc (not with the original) just the documentary revisiting Jordan and the filming locations?

The big draw for me was the deleted balcony scene.

No worries. When I saw Charleton Heston on the cover...hey that's not Lawrence. I'm encouraged that people have really liked the book. There aren't many glimpses of what it looks like, if it's Criterion-level writing on the film.
