I also hope that there will be a screening here.. so I can remember what it was, to watch Lawrence of Arabia as a 14 year old kid back in 1963.
I saw it as a 14 year old as well. It was a roadshow and tickets were reserved. Still have the tickets which cost $1.50. It started me on a hobby of collecting movie memorabilia. I have LOA lobby cards, posters, stills, soundtracks and like you, VHS, LD, and DVD versions. I have two DVD versions, the one in the yellow cloth like hardcase and the Superbit one. Last time I saw it on the big screen was the restored version in 1989. Still my favourite movie of all time and will be buying the blu-ray on day one.

Only now is the magnitude of my transgression becoming apparent. Shame on me, I didn't even realize we had a SPHE insider. My apologies, P-man. Now I've got 900 plus pages of postings to review before I can pester you with my own queries.

While I'm at it, Apologies due to Ricka for the nasty over his interuption of my rhetorical snit.

Around year's end, huh? Better than 2013.

Not a problem! I look at it like this: No news, in this case, is BAD news!
So, seeing as we've been(tortured) waiting so long for this release...ANY news is GREAT news! At least, that's how I see it.

Also once LoA is finally released, Mr. Penton's inbox will probably shrink by 73½%!

Also saw the restored version on the big screen in 1989....... an unforgettable experience.

From a consumer standpoint though, I just know that when I see 'Grover Crisp' associated with a catalogue Blu-ray title, I can trust that it will be the best it can be given the available time, resources, and state of technology. So it's just an expedient to use his name...sort of like how 'James Cameron' has become a stand-in for the army of extremely talented techs that he relies on...plus all those relationships he's forged with execs who now implicitly trust his judgment.

You're right of course - Mr. Crisp is not alone in this...
Another good thing about Grover is that I can also use him as a confirmatory reference source on matters beyond catalogue Blu-ray….https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...er#post5947770

And he often steps up to the plate in matters beyond his primary job responsibilities http://www.smpte.org/sites/default/f...2010-17-07.doc

Not if I can pester you first.

In that regard, what the heck is that towering green thing which nearly goes up to the roof of the building in the linked pic here of the soundstage used for The Amazing Spider-Man on the Sony lot…

An announcement this week to coincide with Criterion's Lean/Coward set being released would be sweet.

Yeah, she was cute, but married. I was out of school and able to buy decent beer. I used to hit Irish times when an intern

They've gotta announce something soon if they plan on releasing LOA in June. I keep checking here twice a day just to see if there's any word!

Sony is cutting this pretty close if the June release rumors are true.

Sony is definitely being obtuse about the bluray - but 'rumored' word from in70mm is that 'Lawrence' is getting released for it's 50th anniversary to the theaters in 2K, 4K and 70mm

There is still plenty of time for a June release, especially late June. Heck some releases for the 6/5 slot are still being announced.

Yeah I know, I'm just being impatient. Plus all of the release dates being posted in different countries and then being removed has me on the edge of my seat.

I'm wondering if Sony is cerebral enough to release the Blu-ray in early July to coincide with the 95th anniversary of the Battle of Aqaba...

Oh we are all getting a little impatient. Obviously, at this point, I think it's safe to assume that we've at least got the year locked down: 2012. For some reason, I just see this as a Q3 or even a Q4 release. Just seems to make more financial sense to release that late in the year. Let's take a most extreme scenerio: A Decemeber release. Well that would probably mean we would get the announcement NLT June-July. I can live with that. Plus it give you something to look forward to both in June-July AND(of course) in December...if my theory holds true.
If I had to guess at week...I would go: 10/30 or 11/6. Right in time for Christmas sales. But that's just my guess.

Look at it like this: We've waited this long, and for all intents/purposes we know it's coming out in 2012(preferably before the end of the world on 12/21)

That's a great idea! I never thought of that...That would be pretty huge foresight on their part. It's always fun to speculate!

I don't think the world will end, but a giant star portal will open and our alien overlords will reveal themselves to the entire population of earth
