Not really concerned about there being a lack of nits, which are obviously sufficient, especially if he/or anyone closes the blinds on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon or a day off mid-week to watch a soccer/baseball game/business channel, etc. with a banner or score constantly emblazoned on the screen and then maybe watching a movie later on that night.

The concern remains the potential of burn in. A video just PM’ed me – this is o.k., but Vincent needs to elaborate more with specifics on “reduce the risk” -

with regards to normal Joe or Jane Q. Public specific progam usage (a nine inning ball game, a 3 hr. football game, 3 hr. of a business or news channel, too much? or not) and my neighbor might bite on the 83? incher. I’m getting the impression that early reviewers are dancing around this question as if there’s something to hide rather than being completely transparent or addressing it pragmatically. Not everyone uses their TVs to watch movies exclusively.

Say twenty years ago we were buying a TV to watch the news, movies, documentaries, wildlife, sports, ...

Today has anything have changed; playing games, YouTube channels, Netflix, HBO, Amazon Video, Disney Channel+, DVD movies, Blu-ray movies, 4K documentaries, the news, sports, ...?

Burn-in potential is part of OLED technology, as Plasma is.
How many people in the population watch only movies on their TVs? Less than 0.00000025%?

Twenty years ago most people buying a TV would keep it for 5-10 years.
Today what have changed? The culture? Better paying jobs? 4K OLED TVs? The death of 3D TVs? Wider angles and bigger screens? The news?

That’s the issue Bob. Nobody, as of yet, will define “the potential” with this new generation of OLEDs. Hell, there’s a potential of getting a DVT after a total knee operation and throwing a clot and dying from it. But fact is, before you sign an informed consent and ask the orthopedist directly about it, he will tell you the exact % chance of that happening based on the evidence. Just like one can quote specifics to Robert’s calibrator, same John? here if need be - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...n#post18713839

I think someone should be able to quantify this burn in risk in regards to specific program content and usage as I mention in the above post. Cripes, an 83” OLED will cost my neighbor more than a total knee and he can’t even get a straight answer as to the risks of the former before he pays his money.

Don’t forget those that game on there tv. Hasn’t every tv had a chance of burn in? The early lcd had it plasma had it Dlp had rear projection had it even computer monitors would get burn in.

I'm still in that 5-10 year TV purchasing demographic.

Is it for any LG OLED or just for a specific one like the CX?

It's good to see Sony, even if only in one market segment, knocking it out of the park. I don't think we'll ever see the time come again when a single manufacturer competes in and wins in say 3 out of 4 market segments. The margins are simply too razor thin.

Thank you for those links. It's always inspiring and refreshing to know that a company can exist to make both a profit and a difference.

Five years ago did you purchase a 4K/3D OLED LG TV (C6 for example)?

Is your next TV an 8K TV on your mind? ...Like 8K MicroLED LG or Sony or Samsung or Panasonic or Vizio or TCL TV for example?

And last, did you ever saw this video, and if not what do you think?

* I'm a similar type of TV consumer, with a 5-year range minimum.
The last TV I bought was an OLED UHD HDR TV (LG model C9).
My next TV I have zero clue; in time it'll come automatically, like a vaccine for example.

I like to read all about those TVs, and from Vincent too. I feel like I know where I'm going a bit more, from being well educated. Do you also feel like that?
