I really hope Sony hits a home run with the A95K because I intend to buy this TV, and if not I'll just have to settle with the A80K then. The longevity of QD OLED is still in question, so hopefully somebody puts out a lot hours into the panel and see if it degrades fast or not.
After the S95B was hyped up as making image retention a thing of the past, all these people were trying to dismiss the heatsink on the A95K as excessive, arguing that Sony just put it there as an excuse to charge more. Now we can see it does serve a clear purpose however, and I'm even more grateful it's there. If I were to pick up one of these first generation QD-OLEDs, it would absolutely be the A95K (not just for the heatsink, but it helps).

As for the longevity of QD-OLED, that is indeed the big question mark. When Sony were showing off their 2022 line-up a while ago, this Sony fella said he doesn't except there to be a notable difference between QD-OLED and WOLED in terms of panel lifespan, that they're expected to last about as long. Time will tell.

My Plasma TV in the living room gets an average of 14 hours of daily usage. That's about 5,000 hours per year. If I were to get a QD OLED, it needs to withstand that in the long run. In 4 years, that's going to come out at 20,000 hours of its panel life.

Panasonic doesn't make TVs for the US market sadly, but that's okay since Sony dethroned Panasonic OLEDs with their A90J and now with the A95K, Panasonic has fallen behind

Two years ago, I really wanted a Panasonic OLED, but now it's a Sony OLED that I want.

Sony's new 2022 A95K Master Series QD OLED delivers stunning images.

Sony's heat sync cools the OLED panel to give the XR processor the ability to increase the peak luminance so you see a naturally larger dynamic tonal range for HDR content. The 2nd generation XR processor has been retuned to take full advantage of the higher peak luminance and improved color volume.

Another very good choice is Sony's 2022 X95K MiniLED with the Backlight Master Drive. This new MiniLED TV has very very minimal blooming and a very dynamic, but accurate picture quality. I never thought I would live any LCD TV, but the technology advancements in the X95K make it a formidable competitor to our beloved OLED emissive display technology.

I'm in the UK so Panasonic is still an option for me... BUT the Sony A95K does look mighty appealing!

Don’t expect an answer..

Now that we know the Samsung uses TPC which can’t be turned off. Any idea if Sony’s new OLED will have a similar implementation?

Last years OLEDs from Sony had a fixed % of dimming with 0 methods of user options to mitigate dimming.

We'll be throughly testing and evaluating Sony's A95K. Sony's first allocation arrives the week of May 23rd, and likely one week earlier, so the with just a little luck we'll see them the week of May 16th.

The comment section, is full of complaints about the lack of comparisons. Some S95B needing a little purchase validation.

Glad they fixed the EOTF tracking for that display, but they need to do it with older models too.

Good on them for making filmmaker mode more accurate, but all other modes, including game mode, still do not properly track the PQ EOTF. So if you plan on gaming, you're still better off with the Alienware QD-OLED or the Sony A95K, if you care about accurate colors.
