People get SO hung up on something being 4K or not but all I care about is whether the end product looks good. As with 3D conversions being some of my favourite stereo experiences versus 'true' native 3D, I've gleaned far greater viewing pleasure out of 2K upscales than 'true' 4K transfers (on balance) thus far - though I will freely admit that the 4K-finished Deadpool is my favourite UHD if I had to pick one because it's a brilliant combination of resolution AND wider colour AND higher dynamic range.

Case in point. I have a bunch of true 4K transfer UHD Disc and the Disc that actually makes my jaws drop was Pacific Rim, a 2K DI upscale that's considered reference/demo quality by a lot of reviewers. |
