Never assume anything with video PQ and differing formats.
For me and HDR, we went from something that was pretty reliable to directors intent (SDR 709) to something that is all over the place depending on what studio did it and whether it was on an LCD or OLED (mastering). Ridiculous. Which is why SDR BT2020 10 bit has a lot of merit IMO, if you get a disc player that does it properly. |

Yes, I am currently using 4K SDR BT2020 when I watch UHD films. I am planning to buy a 2017 LG OLED this year, so moving into DV and HDR10 will be the plan. So I am excited to see these coming.

But, knowing 4K DI or not can play into my purchase or repurchase plans, plus it is nice to know when evaluating a movies PQ. |

Perhaps unrelated topic, but doesnt the type of panel a certain movie is matered on also has an affect on PQ?
For example if we use an Oled TV and the movie was mastered on a plasma or LED, Oled users might not find PQ as good as those who get to watch the same title on a plasma...And vice versa |

I use this so I still get the resolution and color benefit without the display going into torch mode. |

No, you get SDR Rec709 8 bit, so you lose wide color gamut.
The trick is keeping WCG and dropping HDR, which projectors have been doing. I learned it from them and it looks great. |
