I’m glad to see it getting a UHD release, though. Every time the Ghost In the Shell thread is refreshed, I get excited for a moment before remembering what that thread is about.

I'm not sure if it actually is a Native 4K. The Japanese listing says it's sourced from ハイクオリティ (High Quality, but in Katakana- the Japanese way of saying foreign words- hai kouroriti) High Quality sources. But, the title of the release (with Innocence) is 4Kリマスターセット (fo kei remasutaa seto) 4K Remaster Set, so I'm sure it's a new remaster, but not sure whether it's native 4K or not.

"hai kuroriti", new favourite saying (which of course where Pioneer got the "Kuro" name from for their top-end plasma lines)

I don't think they would rebuild the whole Ghost In the Shell film, it's likely an upscale or new scan of the 35mm IP or something.

That was a misspell. Its "Hai-Kuoriti" (High Quality)

And by that, im guessing its an upscale job. Unless it specifically says 4k remaster, it wont be.

Wait for the complaining about the lack of the IMAX embiggening tho, I'll be one of 'em

Yes, I think I made that up about the Kuro name for the Pio plasmas, it means "black" or something like that?

Yeah. "Kuro" is Japanese for "Black", and that's in reference to the proper blacks those plasmas could show VS LCDs.

I dunno why II isn't on the list either.

Here's a handy cut-out-and-keep reference guide to how these should break down:

MI: new 4K scan from photochemical 35mm finish.
MI2: new 4K scan from photochemical 35mm finish.
MI3: upscale from 2K DI.
MIGP: 4K DI.
MIRN: upscale from 2K DI.

So, 1, 2, and 4 should be on this list then.

MI2 is a guilty pleasure of mine... Finally it gets a chance to sing on home video. The current bd disc is not very good.

Aw, why does Rogue Nation only get a 2K DI? That sucks.
