Sony says Hush got a 4k DCP. I believe that makes it the first DC Animated film to have a 4k DI. I haven't seen it yet to judge, maybe others can chime in.

Nice find Puddy! Weird that Hateful Eight is down as being "remastered" despite it being given a 4K source master initially, same for Django Unchained for that matter.

Film processing for Ad Astra was handled by FotoKem, with scanning at 6K performed at EFilm in Hollywood. Dailies were graded in 2K at EFilm by EC3 colorist Matt Wallach. The final grade was performed at 2K by Company 3’s Greg Fisher, who worked in Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve, first at Company 3 London, then at EFilm Hollywood.

Van Hoytema, very much a lover of the look and feel of celluloid, shot on film negative (both in 2- and 4-perf formats), completely embracing the aesthetic of the grain that naturally appears, especially when shooting 2-perf. All the film was scanned at 6K and down-resed to 4K for finishing. “The texture and that somewhat gritty feel,” says Fisher, “accentuates the overall style of the filmmaking. We embraced the grain. It helped with that gritty realism we wanted.”

La La Land is 4K finished as well, always had my doubts on that one. Especially seeing the huge differences, tpyical crispness between Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray.

ASC gave conflicting/missing info there as well. That's why it never ended up on this list.

How did you deal with the dailies?

Sandgren used anamorphic lenses and 35mm film to provide a link to the creative past. “He felt there was no way to achieve this look aesthetically if he shot digitally,” she notes. EFILM scanned all the negative at 3K in the ARRISCAN film scanner and down-resed to 2K DPX for dailies, which the company’s Matt Wallach graded in Colorfront’s On-Set Dailies system.

After Cross’ picture edit was complete, the original negative was re-scanned via ARRISCAN in 6K and down-resed to 4K DPX files that Leonnet colored in Autodesk Lustre. She worked with Chazelle and Sandgren to fine-tune the look, retaining the characteristics of celluloid. Leonnet didn’t suppress grain and worked through a LUT that confined color and saturation corrections to what would be possible to achieve photochemically.

Indeed. It was the poster child for my frustration at the preponderance of 2K upscales early in the format's life. Every few months, this format finds a way to tell you everything you thought you knew is wrong.

100% this one. It's on par with Paramounts other non-DI based masters. Not impossible to get it that great looking. Negative cutters are credited in the film credits. And the only thing digitally touched this movie was a digital grade, after some Googling again.

Since Westworld S2 is still not on this list, here's the editor on S2:

Final material is rescanned in 16-bit 4K and assembled in DaVinci Resolve.deliverable.

To be fair, that's the only thing that matters. If it had a digital grade, that grade was rendered/output at some resolution or other.
