For the file size, I remembered 120-minute movies with 4K DCP for mainland China are all about this size... The recent two I can find exact information: the mainland China DCP for Gemini Man (4K/2D/24fps DCP) is 162.66 GB and The Legend of 1900 (4K DCP, 125-minute version) is 164.61 GB.

Tencent Pictures does the distribution in China right? All I know is FOX/Paramount are all 2K.

Looking through this list makes it no wonder the format isn't as popular as it is at this time. Hopefully holiday shopping gives the format a boost in sales. Anyway I recommend folks purchase movies in 4k from this list first.

Additionally, there are many UHDs with 2K DIs that look fantastic as well.

I think Westworld season 2 was shot to 35 mm and got a 2K DI, just like season 1.

Last Christmas 2019

Holy cow did this movie look great. Maybe the most detailed looking movie I've ever seen (outside of one true IMAX film) along with Passengers, but this one had more vibrant colors so this might be the reference 4k release of all 4k releases. Perhaps only the true IMAX scenes scene on true IMAX film from one of the Batman films looked crisper (but with vastly more mundane colors). Even sitting close to a large 55 foot screen it still was almost like looking through a window and like you were really there crisp and very well lit and none of that nasty teal nonsense and really rich colors. Makes full use of 4k and wide gamut to say the least.

I'm totally serious but this could be THE reference UHD to date when released going by what I saw in the theater.

(and actually one of the best of these sorts of films I've seen story wise)

A RomCom shot with premium Large Format cameras and lenses, given a state-of-the-****ing-Art post-production and 4K master. When the **** did anyone ever think that was going to happen?! The only other RomCom I've ever heard of getting a 4K finish was the abomination known as "I Love You Beth Cooper!" and I haven't any idea WHY it was done.

Yesterday is another very recent one. Shot 8K on RED, finished out to 4K. I don't know if Bad Santa 2 is classed as a romcom as such but that was also made for a relative pittance and was finished out to 4K too (shot on Panasonic 4K Varicam).

The irony is that although these kinds of movies are so much smaller than $300M blockbuster behemoths they don't have to contend with the same problems that constrict the workflow to 2K, e.g. 2000+ CG shots, 3D conversions etc.
