On BD, they stuck with barebones single-layer discs as long they could to save a penny or two.

I don't trust Fox to do anything right.
I think all their launch UHD's will be re-released anyway.

I won't buy any more FOX release 4K movies unless I hear glowing reviews of their particular release. I rather stream the 4K movie if it is nothing special. There are other 4K releases coming our produced from a 4K master and no lower res "digital intermediate". My friends that saw "The Martian" and "The Kingsman" thought it looked good but nothing appreciably better than the regular Blu Ray. Many of us having bought the Samsung 4K player were hungry for 4K disc to play on it. In the future people may be a little more picky unless the disc end product doesn't deliver.

Is there any word out there if and when Disney or Pixar may be releasing their movies on the 4K disc format? I bet those 4K releases would look pretty awesome.

Unfortunately, no - and we'd still be bound by the source there, too.

Disney hasn't declared yet .

I remember Disney was the lager on putting their movies on Blu Ray when Blu Rays first came out. Bummer.

I just hope to Heavenly Father that Disney finally shows their films in their original state and not the over-saturated, brightness-boosted look that films like Cinderella have.

Will Hail Caesar be getting one? Does it have a 4k DI? What about Inside Llewyn Davis?

The dirty little secret of UHD is no VFX are done at 4K yet, so all UHD Blu-Ray have upscaled content. Question is will we notice?

You'd better go ask the boys who actually have 4K media to hand. I'm just pissing in the wind at this point.

I will do that on a later moment. When there is a final press release or store link.
No rush for now. And "place holders" are not allowed on Blu-ray.com.

Warner Bros have yesterday confirmed by a press release it will re-release select catalog titles. They only named Pacific Rim & Man of Steel for now.

There is a 4K disc "Coral Reef Paradise 4K" that will be released in March. It says it was filmed in 4K. Does anyone know anything about this? Will it be 4K be preserved through the burning of the 4K disc (no smaller resolution digital intermediate)?

There is another similar disc called "Magic Coral Reefs" also in 4K.

Any opinions on either? Many of us are interested in getting a great presentation 4K disc with the content filmed in 4K (or higher resolution) and is presented on the disc with no lower resolution intermediates.

They are both available for pre-order with Amazon.

I've heard a nasty rumor from an inside source that Disney isn't interested in UHD Blu at the moment and plans to forgo it and focus on HDR streaming at 1080p. But I guess we'll see what happens in the long run.
