Fine magazine but Poya, the interview was not intended to be a comprehensive listing and discussion of every single type of acquisition device used to shoot the imagery for Spectre (e.g. http://www.definitionmagazine.com/jo...age-in-spectre )

On a somewhat similar note if in interviewing a D.P. for say a 3D motion picture it would not be surprising if he/she were not asked to comment upon the brand and type of witness cameras used in order to track imagery for the vfx.

I am sure it will. But financially it just doesn't make sense for me to keep double dipping. Like I said, I am happy enough with blus. But I'll be getting a 4k tv next year so I'd like to have some proper uhd movies to show off.

Hey I understand. I won't have a 4K tv for a couple of years and I don't like double dipping either. Still, there are films I love so much that I have them on every format, like VHS and laserdisc even.

I don't usually shy away from double dipping, as any of the 4 copies of Drive that I own.

But on this I am generally avoiding the releases that are already announced for UHD blu-ray or even newer blu-ray releases with 4K masters or remasters.

I'm making some exceptions though. I really wanted Kingsmen when it came out, and I'll be getting the Fantastic Four steelbook.

Don't worry. This UHD format will have with Atmos Dolby and DTS-X audio. You can downsize to 1080p HDTV. No one force you buy 4K tv.

Just buy UHD player is an important. You need looking new receiver for Atmos Dolby and DTS-X.

Wild and Martian for me. In retrospect, both films are somewhat similar, in that they feature a main character stranded from civilization and going through great lengths (and unreasonable bathroom conditions) to survive.

Might as well buy the regular BD of Wild as the DI is 2K. The UHD will obviously be an upscale.

HD Goofnut,

I not know that. I want to know...which maze runner is

Cinematographic Process ARRIRAW (2.8K) (source format)
CineForm RAW (2K) (source format) (some shots)
Digital Intermediate (4K) (master format)
Redcode RAW (5K) (source format) (visual effects)

Even if the DI for a film was just 2K, surely the best option is still one of these discs?

The film will have benefited from an upscale which has been carried out with care and taking time, making full use of the expanded disc size, rather than something carried out by a player or TV on the fly?

It will also surely benefit from better colour and potentially HDR?

I won't know until we see comparisons. I guess I have to get a 4K monitor for that through.

All an unknown at this point.

Look at the number of titles with 7.1 sound, there are quite a few but MOST do not make very good use of the 7.1 sound. Dolby Atmos or DTS:X ought to be standard now but only big budget titles get it and very few of those make it to disc.

In many cases there is a large gap between what is and what could be. IMHO, it will be no different between BD and UHD BD.

Exactly, upmixing/upscaling/colouring in may work, it may ruin it
