I think use on IMAX version. Two different films shot.

It's not that rare if the name of the studio rhymes with bony. The two things have never been mutually exclusive, but with the already expanding cost of the 3D finish (which itself needs to be graded for different light levels) plus specific IMAX DCPs it always tended to put the kibosh on having a true 4K as well because that would be the most expensive, bandwidth-consuming finish of the lot!

Not having 3D has helped in certain cases, e.g. Tomorrowland and Deadpool, but when studios are spending $250M+ on a single movie I think there's no excuse for not finishing in 4K no matter how many versions there are. Hopefully Civil War did indeed get a 4K finish (like BvS before it) and that this is just the start.

It's worth mentioning that Sony didn't do the simultaneous 3D and 4K finishes out of the goodness of their hearts though. They had a vested interest in 3D from the start of this modern revival and they've also been pushing for 4K for what seems like aaaaages; they've got tech to sell and they need content to do it.

I finally received ASM2 from Amazon and 4K w/Dolby Atmos is really good, I just wasn't expecting such a grainy look in some of the film shots...The shots featuring downtown NY at night are really spectacular.
Lots of action coming from my Atmos front height speakers as well
