Don't get too crazy excited everyone. Both parts of Mockingjay were filmed in 2.8K with a 4K finish.

Also, don't preorder (anything ever!) any Lionsgate title, too many issues on too many discs. Wait for the reviews and other consumer reactions.

Bummer.

But it should still be noticeably better than blu ray and better than a regular 2k upscale. Sicario was filmed at 3.4k and is reference quality, so 2.8 should be close.

Sometimes 2K to 4K transfers look better than real 4K

Mockingjay Parts 1&2 were filmed at the same time as one long movie, then separated for release. They were both shot on the Alexa XT anamorphically at 2.8k. Interestingly, the fx were rendered at the same resolution, then the whole thing upscaled for a 4k DI.

Catching Fire was filmed on 35mm and 65mm Imax and finished at 4k (with 2k upscaled fx).

But was the 35mm scanned at 4k or scanned at 2k? Big difference.

UHD TV is more like 3.8k

UHD = 3840x2160
4k theatrical = 4096x2160.

People use 4k and UHD interchangeably even though they are slightly different.

STOP SAYING THAT!

You have typed that wrong information in at least 4 different topics. Please stop trying to help people. As I have tried to tell you before....

When speaking about home theater and for not overcomplicating a simple thing... 4K = UHD = 3840px = 4000px = 4096px

All of these are used interchangeably when speaking about home theater, deal with it.

What website? My god man, (I hate to say this) but just use Wikipedia.

I'm not trying to sound elitist, but you don't even own a 4K UHD tv. Can you please stop spouting information off like you have any clue as to what you are talking about. I know english is your second language, but that is no excuse for some of the random posts you make.
