Blame Disney and Marvel for that. At least you can get them in 3D.

As far as UHD, the large name movies are coming out in droves in UHD now and it will only get better. Im sure the smaller flicks will still be blu, but I Netflix rent a lot of them anyways.

Yes I do blame Disney/Marvel. Movies like the recent Civil War would shine (no pun hehehe) in UHD.
Is Lucy a 2K to 4K. I keep hearing that this movie makes a great demo

Excuse my ignorance, but how long has 4K been around? Labyrinth is a very old title...are you saying that 4K cameras where already around in the 80's?

You are thinking Film vs digital. Film, which labyrinth was shot in, has a much higher native resolution. All the older flicks on film can be re done as a 4K DI I would imagine.

Would you mind posting your feedback once you watch Labyrinth? I am curious to know how a 1980's movie could possibly look in UHD

But wouldnt the more accurate colors and contrast ratio further highlight the outdated costumes and props used on set back then?

Jim Henson was a little different, than like the fake crap I saw with the remastered Ghost Busters a few months ago.

My fear with going back to older movies in UHD is that all of a sudden the sets are going to look so fake they become even distracting, like watching a play with obvious stage props more than watching a movie

Depends on the movie. I bought the remastered Jaws a couple of years ago where they went in and scanned the film thru water to remove marks, and it looks FABULOUS. Id buy it again if they do something for UHD.

It's an older movie so it does look a little outdated at times, but that being said, I was surprised at how well the puppets and costumes were made. To me being outdated doesn't matter. It's part of the charm with older movies and love seeing how they were actually made.

Considering film is higher resolution that 4K, it's amazing that people were able to suffer for years in movie theaters watching a 35mm print blown up to 100 foot screen.

Lucy is next on my list after I tackle XMen Apocalypse.
Was The Fifth Element an example of older (1990's) title re-mastered in UHD just like Labyrinth?

I saw Labyrinth a couple of days ago and overall I was very impressed. There is a lot of film grain in certain scenes but it didn't take away from the pq. I feel like it was a good thing for the movie. The opening shot is the worst, but it gets better and better from there. In certain scenes I couldn't believe how great certain things looked and how much the colors popped for a 30 year old movie.

As for Lucy. I saw that last night and I was so impressed. Def reference material. I posted on my uhd pq thread about how I was able to see every little pore on Scarlets face in the scene of her waking up on the bed like I was laying next to her.
