No. David Gilmour Blu-ray is Region A locked much to my annoyance (got it for my UK PS3).
Why is there no consistency with regions on Blu-ray? Why are some locked, some not? It just confuses and ultimately antagonises the consumer. It's stupid.

Is the US version of Spiderman 3 not region free? If so, that's kinda strange since the Japanese version is. It's marked as being ABC, at any rate.

jd213, nothing strange, it's sony's policy that US's day-and-date releases only region encoded. ALL other are region free worldwide, even if it simultaneously released.

Has anyone in the US imported Children of Men or Revolver yet? I am thinking of importing both of these titles, but being Region B and no official word on whether they are "region free" or not I am reluctant to drop $100 on them.

How likely is it that the German release of "The Simpsons Movie" will be region free? I have a region A player. Fox distributes all over Europe and the UK from what I know. Judging by their releases so far, they are mainly region coded for B only.

hmm.......

I want to pre order the 5 disc set fom the states because I hear Warner discs are region free. Has anybody got any thoughts on this? Any advice would be great
Cheers
Hi

i must say i was confused by this as well with amazon saying region free but play.com saying will only play on region 1. was more confused by the lad in gamestation where i bought my ps3 last week saying it definitely wouldn't play, but after looking here i'm going to order the 5 disc BD and hope for the best.

excellent forum here chaps!

I have both but have just had time to check Revolver so far. It is certanly region free and my guess is that Children of Men also is region free. I'll post update then I get home.

Children of Men is region free as many have posted before in other threads. Tested the disc in my Region A PS3.

I would think that Superbad will be region locked because it's a day-and-date and is released by Sony. Hope I'm wrong.

Default Brokeback Mountain UK - Region B?

I know the UK Brokeback Mountain is reported as Region B, but I've read a few reports that suggest it's not actually region locked. Can someone who has the disk confirm this.

Thanks.

Default Region Free PLAYERS

Hi,

I'm from the UK, where the selection of BD titles pales in comparison to the amount available to the US, as I'm sure you're all aware of.

When DVD hit the market a decade ago, there was an immediate demand for players capable of playing all discs, regardless of region. Player mods started from replacing chipsets in the players, and eventually moved to pressing the right sequence of buttons on the remote.

Somebody, somewhere must know of someone who can do the same with BD players. The strange thing is that I have NEVER come across an article or thread on a forum about this subject, and all google searches I can can think of are coming up blank!!

This would be most useful for all non-US BD enthusiasts, as it would increase our selection of titles tenfold, and also for those across the pond who want to import titles from Europe or Japan.

Any and all comments will be gratefully received.........

HELP!!!!!!!!!
