okay..... RV (UK version)... the cover said ABC, but it does not work with my Japanese PS3, but works with my UK PS3. Am I missing something?

Also, I noted that Bridge to Terabithia (USA) is playable on both region A and B machine, but when played in region B, it goes straight to the menu, skipping all the trailers, while if it played on region A, it will display the trailers first. Anybody noticing this?

Would that still make it a PAL disk? Will a German All Region disk play on American Blu-ray machines?

I've seen that Air Force One is out!

Weird... It should work.

No more PAL & NTSC with Blu-ray

If A/B/C it will work on all machines. (at least, it should)

So, does that mean I'll be able to import the Sweeney Todd blu-ray and it will work on my US PS3?

Default Japanese Blu-ray

My ps3 plays region 3 standard dvd's, but the region for Blu-ray is 'A'. So I hear Japan also falls under region 'A' for Blu-rays. But I went to the Japanese amazon.com site but the blu-ray discs are encoded under region '2'?

That right. Amazon is wrong. They have not added the correct region codes for Blu-ray yet.

DVD have the region codings 1-9 (not all used)
Blu-ray have the region codings A, B and C (C only used with region free discs (A, B and C-coding))

Amazon only label the origin of the disc and then according to the the DVD regions which is wrong for Blu-ray.

If Amazon say a Blu-ray has the Region 2 coding it is either Region A, Region B or Region A,B and C (region free). If it is Amazon.jp is probably Region A or Region free. If it is Amazon in a European country it is probably Region A,B and C and maybe Region B.

To be sure about region codings, take a look at the site in my signature.

Smile thanks

Thank you for clearing things out. So as my ps3 plays region 'A' Blu-rays it's safe to order them from Amazon (Japan)?
I'm desperate to get my hands on Predator, that's why.

Here's the deal. Althoug it is written as NTSC-J, your PS3 is NOT Japanese.
Your PS3 is Asian version (with ending number of either 6 or 7)

Mine is Region 2 and Region A, NTSC-J, and it's Japanese. Japanese models are numbered as ending in 0 (CECHx00) in which "x" is a letter that indicates the HDD capacity (A is 60GB, B is 20GB, C is 60GB without Emotion Engine, H is 40GB)

Yours is most likely CECHx06 or 07 (which is Asian version) 6 for HK, 7 for Taiwan, and they are both region 3

FYI,
Amazon UK also listed BD as region 2.

Yes, Amazon in Japan only have Region A or Region Free Blu-ray titles so you would be safe with a Japanese or Asian PS3. I have one from Hong Kong (Region 3 regarding DVD and Region A for Blu-ray) and have ordered titles both from Amazon in Japan as well as the Hong Kong Site DDDHouse.com and some other site.

Default Rush hour 3 region question for EU

Guys, on the BD region site: http://bluray.liesinc.net/, it says that Rush hour 3 NA version is region-locked. But the source links to a wrong site, so I am questioning if this disc is really region locked, can anyone confirm this please?

Also, (in case the disc really is region locked) do you guys know which Region B countries are going to release Rush hour 3 on Blu?

In the Netherlands, the country where I live, some company holds the distribution rights for this movie, and they don't release titles on Blu-ray (or HD-DVD). These guys also have the rights to Crank, which is really annoying.

It is.

Region locking is the sole reason why Rush Hour 3 was released on Blu-ray, but not on HD DVD.

Lord of War is region free according to this site:
http://bluray.liesinc.net/

You can not know the region code until the disc is released but my guess would be that it is region coded because it is a day and date release in USA by Sony. They have all releases region free except day and dates in USA.
