In all honesty a lot of it comes from time and effort from people who have literally shoved a region A film into they're region B player or visa versa and sen whether it'll play fine or not.. trial and error. Then they update the sites with the info and it gets passed around to the blu-ray community.

For example.. the guys over at Movietyme have a blog they update with latest releases. They'll get stock of a title in before release date, try it out on they're region B player then update the blog to state whether or not it's region free or not.. link

Here is another site with region coding information:
http://www.blurayregioncodes.com/

You can also always look for the my avatar symbol on the back of the cover. If it is ABC it is region free. If it have a A or B it might be locked to that region (but not always). If it does not list any coding at all it is usually region free.

But as said, it always need trying. Discs can be labelled as ABC but be locked (one exists as far as I know) or have semi-locking that can be bypassed by bringing up the Top Menu (NewLines titles and one Fox release in Europe).

I have two PS3, one Region A and one Region B. I always test my discs in both players and post the information if it is unknown.

In case anyone might be curious, both Transporters from France will play fine in a region A player. Just tested them and the PQ/AQ seemed better than the US version. I'm reconfirming Transporter 2, and confirming Transporter for the 1st time.

I want to pre order the 5 disc set fom the states because I hear Warner discs are region free. Has anybody got any thoughts on this? Any advice would be great

I have just ordered Protege. I would guess it is region free as all other Hong Kong releases tested and Flash Point also from Deltamac.

We do not know anything about Run Fat Boy, Run yet. It can very well be region free.

Take a look at this site for more information:

If anyone is interested, just bought Curse of the Golden Flower from Spain, has English subs and of course is region B (ABC actually according to disc).

I haven't seen this documented anywhere. The US disc is region locked.
