It's a Sony day and date release but my hope is sony will pull off a "we own the night" and this will be region free.

Looking at the Back Cover on DVDEmpire.com it reads A,B,C

The Info Source however is a Guy and there is no clear Information how he tested it (and how did he get the Disc already?).
I really hope there is someone who can test it on a Region B Player (and not some PC Drive...).

Thanks to DS1975 for reminding me to check it there. I used to, but could not find many of the backcovers so had given up.

By the way, what's up with Sony? When was their last region locked release? Have they given up on it completely?

DVDEmpire.com has the Back Covers up on release date or soon after...

However they mostly have the Sony Titles early and that's a good way to check region coding.

Sony doesn't make much sense really - why not declare a Region Free Disc as such?

For example: Water Horse - The Legend of the Deep will be Region Free according to the Back Cover (A,B,C).

Walk Hard:The Dewey Cox Story also a Sony release will be Region Coded according to the Back (only an A).

There's still a chance that Walk Hard is still Region Free but someone needs to test the Disc when its released.

This Region Coding thing becomes really a pain in the ass....

I guess it should be, since it's a Warner release.

I have just received I am Legend shipped from DVDWorldUSA.com and can say its region free will watch the film tonight and hopefully post a good review

All warner releases are region free.

All fox releases are region coded.

Its the other studios you need to check up on.
