Even if the situation is reversed, how many people care about importing movies, even in Australia? Not that many, I'd wager. If you don't want to be limited to Region B, you should have bought a Region A player, simple as that. Fox feels they need region coding, whether it's to make sure their international markets make money and don't lose revenue to cheaper imports, or maybe they're just out to get you personally. Whatever the reason, *****ing about it here isn't going to get much done.

I understand you and your English is much better than my French

It's about money. By isolating markets the studios can make more money from markets that are used to paying higher prices.

Speaking for Australia (if I may), there wouldn't be one person I know who does NOT have an import of some TV series or movie which was never released in Region 4 (Australia). All stand alone DVD players in Australia are region free for many years. That's why lot's of people import: some for price, some for lack of availability, some for special features or any mixture of those.

I don't want to get into an argument. You're not looking outside the box here.

Get me personally? Brother, this is a debate about region coding, nothing more.

I'm not *****ing. I'm hoping to enlighten those in region A who simply think, "doesn't affect me, Buy region A playerzz". There is a world outside of North America.

Also, I like many others, have asked the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to rule on the legality of region coding. Guess what, they made all Australian players region free due to their ruling in the past, I'm hoping they'll do the same with Blu-ray.

Have a nice day.

Even if they do rule against region coding, it's not going to magically make all currently region coded players region free now, is it? So you're still going to be stuck without access to Region A discs unless you get a new player.

How many of the people you know in Australia with imports are casual J6P types, and do they represent the population in general? If so, then good for Australia, but it still doen't change the current situation with Blu-ray.

Lets see if you have the same opinion if there suddenly is some movies released on Region B and they are region coded. And you really want them but the damn region coding is in the way for you to see them

I was ready to buy a Region B PS3 when The Transformers: The Movie (the original, not the Michael Bay film) was announced for the UK, but luckily it turned out to be region free.

Otherwise, I kinda doubt they'll be anything that will get me to buy a Region B player. I've got 1500 discs in my DVD collection and I only have a handful of UK/Euro imports. If something does come along, I can probably buy it and make a region-free backup or buy it to show my support and download a backup (neither of these actions is currently illegal in Japan) . Or just have a little patience until it comes out in Region A. But like I said, Europe/Australia gets very little in the way of exclusives that I'd be interested in and I never would have bought a Region B player if I lived in a Region B country.

So you would be willing to pay a massive ammount in shipping to buy a PS3 Region A. If you lived in Europe?

Also almost all the releases that comes out in Region A is region free and Those who are not (FOX+New Line)will come out in Region B it is just a matter of time

if i lived in Region C. Then i would definetely have bought a Region A or B player

Well, I doubt if I'd have to pay the shipping if I lived in Europe. When I lived in the US, I made trips to Japan once or twice each year, so I'd probably be doing the same thing if I had lived in Europe, and could just pick up a Japanese PS3 and bring it home. But if I did have to pay for shipping, the cost would eventually be made up by importing cheaper US releases.

I'd be more worried about Japanese anime releases which are unlikely to be released overseas soon after they come out in Japan. Luckily most are region free, but discs such as Innocence are Region A.

I had read rumblings that it was going to be bad as well. I'd recommend to wait till some reviews come out before importing it. Sorry I can't directly answer your question.

Hi, does anybody know if the Rambo boxset (1-3) is region free. This forums 'Movies' section says so. But I remember seeing in Amazon.com as Region A.
Anybody knows about the region coding for this and also Rambo (Fourth Part)?

Wanted to let know that I will be buying it from Amazon.com (Got a Region C PS3, so needs to work on it).

At the head of the thread I have started cataloging region coding patterns for various studios, both regions A and B. Please contribute

Default 20th Century Fox and regions

Hello,

Maybe this issue has already been raised, but I couldn't find it...
Well, 20CentFox's BDs, according to all the information I could gather, are region-locked.

However, two of my BDs released by Fox USA, namely Jumper and Die Hard Collection, contain no standard BD region marking, .

I wonder if anyone has actually checked whether these ones are region locked. Because, in my humble opinion, if a BD disc is not marked with a specific region, it should be region free, is it not?

Unfortunately, I cannot check - I don't have a BD-ROM drive, only a standalone BD player (region A).

Sorry, you can't rely on anthing that is written on the box. There are region locked titles without any indication on the box and the other way around as well.

Check out the sites Marek mentioned, these have info of the actual discs tested for the region code.

And yeah. Fox is region locked everytime in region A as well as in region B (where i am).
