Well, 20CentFox's BDs, according to all the information I could gather, are region-locked.

However, two of my BDs released by Fox USA, namely Jumper and Die Hard Collection, contain no standard BD region marking, .

I wonder if anyone has actually checked whether these ones are region locked. Because, in my humble opinion, if a BD disc is not marked with a specific region, it should be region free, is it not?

Unfortunately, I cannot check - I don't have a BD-ROM drive, only a standalone BD player (region A).

i had jumper and was locked(got the english version after i re bought it)

Default universal region coding

Is there any news if Universal will be region free. ?

Like paramount, warner.

Just look at a movie like the mummy was released region free but on BD, NO... ?

Baybe it is time to reconsider DVD. ?

Why wouldn't Universal release Region Free. They supported HD-DVD and that was REGION FREE. So why change all of the sudden

I hope you are right. But I am getting worried that it wont be region free... have been looking on some BD sites I import from and all Universal films are marked (A) = North America.

Hope I am wrong.

depending on who owns the rights to it and where , it may get a region A release or a region free release from a region B studio.

Question Region codes

Hi. Although I live in Europe I prefer to by my BDs from Amazon.com and not from Amazons UK site (much better prices). But then region codes become an issue, as my player is region B. When this site (Blu-ray.com) claims a title to be region free and amazon.com says its Region 1, how should i read this? Does Amazon.com's "Region 1" refer to DVDs? Or does region 1 = region A for BDs?

i think they list them like that is because they don't know yet and it is an american release

But if they don't release region free i would say universal will have turned their backs on the format they thought was the best namely HD-DVD. And they will be hippocrites

If you're talking about Dark City, then the chances are a bit more than zero:

I would prefer buying the US release for obvious reasons but since it is New Line, it will most probably be region locked. One can only hope though...

Exclamation Be Kind Rewind (Region A)

Hi

This is my first post!

Recently Region A versions of New Line Blu Ray releases (e.g. The Orphanage, Shoot em' Up, Golden Compass) could be played in the PS3 thus circumventing the Region Code (this was achieved by pressing the triangle or square button on the controller when the REGION INCOMPATABILITY screen came up)

Now it looks like New Line have stopped this - I tried a copy of 'Be Kind Rewind' and now you get a blue REGION INCOMPATABILITY /ERROR screen similar to what you would see on 20th Century Fox Blu Ray titles.

So it looks like New Line are aware of the way round there Region coding and it seems they have pust a stop this
