Does anyone know if the upcoming UK release of Taken will be region free?

I have only ever imported Planet Earth so I am not very familiar with the process. Any help is appreciated!

Sadly, it has been confirmed by 2 people as being Locked to Region B + C. You have to wait for a US release.

Question Playback Assured?

OK, I have a question I'm not sure is to be found anywhere on these pages:

But I found some versions of BRDs which are (US-)imports
(for me here in The Netherlands or the UK-region as you could call it).
And when I look at their description-pages on this website, they usually say 'Region Free'.
Does that really mean I could play them over here or does that also depend on other things?
Like the player for instance, which would probably be a Region 2 player.

Which makes me think at this moment, would it mean I need a "Region Free player"
or would the BRD just be region free, meaning playable on any player?

Greets,

all movies from WARNER, UNIVERSAL, PARAMOUNT and DREAMWORKS are region free, so you can play them on any player... region A, B, or C

Ah, that's pretty awesome.
I guess this time around they don't want to control things too badly I guess.
I was already glad they simplified the regions down to like 3(?) or something.

However, why do sellers, for example on Amazon,
still specifically say it's a US- and NTSC-release (and such namings) then?
Is NTSC a different type of video like with tapes and DVDs
and would I get in trouble with thát rather than the region-coding?
Or does it just look different or something like that?

Not to forget that the description of the product-page sometimes also emphasize
on that it's US, Region 1 or NTSC and "would probably not play on different players".
That might be to prevent unsatisfied customers, but yeah... still confusing...

well never ever take info from AMAZON about region coding, etc...

and on US discs you can get some SD documents in NTSC, and on UK disc you can get documents in PAL, so with some bonuses you can have problems on some players..

here are few pages with region free discs info, they were mentioned here also several times :

http://bluray.liesinc.net/
http://movietyme.blogspot.com/

and sony plus disney catalog titles are mostly region free

I see.

Only then, what is the reason they release so many, say in the US, but Region Free.
Even though if some of these documents are NTSC...
Is that release meant to be available for everyone or is it still meant for, in that case, US only?

Or do they want to "restrict" the release by not making everything on the disc playable for everyone?
Cause, it just seems kind of silly if they'd make it Region Free, but it doesn't (always) work in every region.

Also, would it depend on the player if those NTSC-parts would play or not over here?
If there are any that is, does that happen much actually or is that fairly unknown?
But I'd probably go with a better known brand of player,
only, would those have more change to play NTSC or less or doesn't it matter?

Thanks for the info,

Question

By the studio referred to as 'Fox' you mean the one with like the big blocky (and blue?) letters right?
And not '20th Century Fox', unless that's the same company...
