Seeing all this talk about lawyers and physicians compels me to chime in - my older brother is an oncologist, and I have the upmost respect for the profession - you definitely earn every cent (and more) of what you make, Brain.

I'm an attorney that works primarily on insurance issues with respect to media matters, including the film/tv industry, so I have some tangential involvement in some very interesting legal disputes to keep the cinemaphile in me happy

When we see each other, my brother calls me "shyster" and I call him "quack"

btw, out of curiousity, Rob, what area of law do you practice?

Yes, Burg Hohenwerfen. Visited it Summer of 2004
after completing Grad School. Used for several
films. Out of the way, and walking to it is the only
way unless you are an eagle or helicopter. Nice view.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burg_Hohenwerfen

"Burg Hohenwerfen was famously used as the castle 'Schloss Adler' in the film Where Eagles Dare, although the memorable cablecar scenes were filmed using the Feuerkogel-Drahtseilbahn in Ebensee. Hohenwerfen also appears in the background of The Sound of Music during 'Do Re Me'. It was also used as a French hotel in the movie Just Married."

Default "A Star Is Born" in 6K

Is this the film resoration mentioned a few weeks ago?
Only six months to complete seems a bit short. Hope
the soundtrack is given the same care.

You mean, after you park your car while arriving with the road right next to it ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:WK_Hohenwerfen.jpg

(granted the photo might be misleading, there might be quite a bit of an elevation from the road to the actual castle's enrance )

BluDomain and Elandyll, well I’m confused.
Have either of you actually physically visited this fortress?

Is it a significant hike up to this place…... or is it just a leisurely uphill stroll, in other words how long a walk is it for people considered to be in “average” shape? And do they offer some kind of tour?

My wife and I are considering visiting Austria this summer and I have to sell her on this venue as long as it’s not too tedious.

What's wrong with 4K for 35mm from the 50s?

It's an easy climb. About thirty minutes if I remember correctly,
but I stopped several times to take in the view. There is also
a shuttle and an elevator believe it or not. A couple Euros extra.
If a nice clear day, walk. A nice groomed shaded path. Be sure
you watch the falconary demonstration if they have one while you
are there. There are tours, plays, medieval feast on certain days.
Your hotel in Salzberg should be able to tell you dates and get
tickets.

If your Hotel will pack a lunch, it makes a nice day's outing.
If not, a bottle of wine, cheese and wurst will do from the
village. Easy for your wife I'd think. Especially if you make
it romantic or two bottles of wine as a fall back.

The road Elandyll's picture is 159. Not the Burgstrasse going
up to the fortress.

Click on Terrain on the Link below. I'll let you compute the
contur lines. About 200 meters up or so, but I'm terrible at
judging distances.

They have a Falcon Show during the Summer. July I think.
Probably crowed then. Falcons are there all the time.

Today, probably nothing. From the article "The key goal of the project is preservation, but the restored version of the film will also eventually be released on Blu-ray Disc and standard DVD." I assume they are looking into the future since this preservation is expected to last 100 years. Do you know what is going to be available in 100 years?

Some of us think it should be higher. Me personally think a 2.55 Scope negative should be scanned at 336.5 pmm for both timeless archiving and 1920

Question for any insider/mod about store pricing.

Many Walmart SuperCenters have finished expanding their BD section and the prices are in line with Amazon.com. Most catalogs are $19.99, new releases are usually $24.99-$29.99.

Now, this question focuses on Target. Does anyone know why they price their titles closer to Best Buy than to WalMart? WalMart is definitely Target's #1 competitor. Why wouldn't Target want their BD pricing to match their #1 competitor? Why are they $5 higher on almost every title?
