We're getting Paris-Nice in widescreen today on Versus HD, but it's definitely not high resolution. Since the same company that runs P-N owns the Tour, hopefully that is a start in the right direction.

just watching the 1932 film Vampyr and it just occured to me that the movements of the people on screen seem faster than normal. This is also the case with some of the early Charley Chaplin films. Is this to do with the number of frames per second?

I saw LoA in the theater when I was 13. Actually, I saw it twice, and loved it. To this day, it is one of my favorite films and one that I have owned on VHS, Laserdisc, and DVD. I am very grateful and excited about the possibility of this legendary film coming to Blu-ray soon. My guess, as just an average guy, is that this title is probably the number one requested title of what I would call "Classic" films, and I do believe that it will sell better than one might think.

I believe that some of the very old films were filmed at frame rates slower than 24 fps. Unfortunately, today these films are frequently played back at 24 fps. IMDB does not list the frame rate for Vampyr, but, interestingly, it was filmed with an aspect ratio of 1.19:1

At 3K per year, many people will be deducting for a long, long time my friend. BTW, it's gonna be alright. ![]() ![]() |

no, but it might sufficiently mean that?
![]() no stories of the 2 different LOA DVD releases? You seem to know where all the skeletons are buried, after all... Or is the story simply of a different master used for the Superbit? (ie., no drama at all...) |

yeah, those two posts above go together... Jeff, that was the rough story as I heard it (maybe even through the 'Bits) but I was looking for a bit more detail from the inside, if available... I figured it might have some insight about what we're to expect from this forthcoming title...

And that is fine with me as long as the final product does the movie justice which imo is a given with the track record of the parties involved. |
