Where’s doctorossi?
Did he expire today or something? Hey rossimeister, since the topic has recently turned to the editing of Quantum of Solace, didn’t you mention several pages back that you are an editor or an aspiring editor? In that regard, are you attending the upcoming NAB and taking any of the certification courses to get your resume up to snuff? These dang editors can edit a feature film on their laptops now. ![]() For example, at least one complicated sequence of QoS was edited on a laptop using Avid Adrenaline. Is there any chance that blu-ray.com could hold a discussion between blu-ray.com members and the people at Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and other hardware manufacturers?

Penton, as a man with a lot of Sony knowledge, any idea if Leon or Das Boot, (pref the longer cuts) are due out in next 12 months?

Sorry Mark, I purposely avoid answering those types (i.e. 'when is') of questions.
Good try though. ![]() |

I think that it was back in Jan. that the AP and Reuters both ran articles describing the proposed regulations of the California Energy Commission and their potential effect upon big screen TV purchasing in California, in the future.
I was reminded of this again this past week by an article in the Orange County Register, which by the way, at least has not shut down like so many other newspapers…..although it seems to be getting thinner and thinner on a weekly basis. ![]() Anyway, this is the article, which seems to have drawn quite a bit of online comments…… http://taxdollars.freedomblogging.co...een-tvs/12993/ One item that the article ^ doesn’t mention is that next week the Consumer Electronics Association (some of you guys have attended their show over the years) is publishing its own study apparently proving that the California Energy Commission’s assumptions are completely inaccurate as to how the proposed new regulations would affect the sales of big screen televisions in Cali. So, keep an eye out next week for the CEA’s report. Also, the Commission isn’t expected to vote on these proposed regulations until the summer or later, so all you California residents have time to make your voices heard. |

![]() What type (manufacturer model) of yacht in Quantum of Solace did Camille get on with Gen. Medrano (in the harbor) --just before 007 comes to the rescue? AND how many h.p. does that particular yacht claim? One answer only. ![]() |

http://www.yachtsponsorship.com/tag/quantum-of-solace/ and, look, a Yacht nerd forum! http://www.ybw.com/forums/showflat.php?Number=2047751 Bet they don't fight like people do here... So, part two: http://www.sunseeker.com/yachts/46metretrideckyacht.php that one goes 20 knots, this one: http://boatpoint.ninemsn.com.au/revi...rhawk-43-10393 60 knots!!! Meh. If you have that much money, why bother going fast? People should come to -you-. The most revolting thing I ever saw in terms of retarded rich were the boats at Cannes during the fest... Being able to own and crew a private sailing yacht with helipad I think is deserving of some revolutionary act, but that's of course fodder for another story... I admit to being a bit sad that your only comment from my query was the repeat of the "boiling a disc" nonsense, but I guess I just ain't going to get a respectful answer... ah, well... So, changing gears... What's -your- home theatre like? Do you bother watching flicks at home on BD, or do you screen them at the studio? Are you someone that actually digs into extras from studios other than your own as a film nerd? Curious, basically, about how much of a fan of the films at home you remain, regardless of supporting the delivery technology or originating studio. That’s one answer? Shark, you’ve given me a bunch of links with a lot of words (which I don’t have time to read because I’m ready for bed) but, you haven’t answered the question of which model did Cami and the General board in the harbor while 007 was riding up to them on his motor-sickle………..and most importantly, how much claimed h.p.? And when you do figure out the exact model, I’ll tell you right now that da boat comes with the choice of 3 different power plants……….each with different claimed h.p. and maximum speeds. P.S. People don't fight on my thread. Be happy. ![]() lol, "look, a yacht nerd forum"........I like that. ![]() Last edited by Penton-Man; 03-30-2009 at 07:28 AM. Reason: added a P.S. |

Oh, sorry, I read it as top speed, not HP.
Well, the 43 model (which is the last link above, and the one in the film if I'm correct) can be fitted with "triple - yes, triple! - Yanmar 315hp diesel engines" so, by that math, 945hp. Retarded. ![]() |

Excellent googling and excellent guess -- which is correct.
![]() You win the Yachtsman of the Day award………. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGD-t...eature=related P.S. I’m actually wondering what you typed before you edited your response. |
