well, the football purists win out.. its Manchester utd versus Barcelona... my god though if your a Chelsea fan you must feel hard done by... i think they were by far the better team last night.. ok Barca had about 70% of the possession but they only had one shot on goal... they didnt look like they would ever have scored.. i think it was cruel fate that chelsea went out.. history always stacks up against you - it would have been the first time ever the same two teams contested consecutive finals..
Drogba seemed most upset with his 'this is a f ing disgrace' arm waving comment into the camera at the end.. God you have to love HD transmissions for sports.. switching back to the local SD transmission really highlighted the difference considerably.. roll on the 27th of May.. hopefully its as epic as last years final.. |

lol,
All I can say is thank God, I didn't turn off the match until the very, very end because I was getting sleepy and was indeed tempted to! I think that Chelsea got very lucky with their first goal and I'll bet that Essein?sp couldn't make that same shot again if he tried to another 99 times. Anyway, personally, I'm very happy with the result except for the Barca guy that was yellow carded and won't be able to play in the final. To any readers that are unfamiliar with the recent football (soccer) chatter we have been having here and just don't understand the significance--- Well, a lot of football purists (esp. coaches) think more highly of the Champions League than the World Cup finals itself! One reason being is that there seems to be much greater team play from club teams rather than national teams. |

Hey Squid, in regards to your " pot, kettle, etc." comment on the Digital Bits thread, lol, I was thinking about that midway through but the throttle just got stuck in WFO (wide full open) and I couldn't help me-self......perhaps should have thought to pull in the clutch as I don't get paid either and my colleagues think I'm nuts to still even be here.

Penton,
It's now confirmed that Dr. Strangelove will be in a digibook package. Do you know what triggered Sony to start offering these? Perhaps strong sales from the WB books? Also, can we expect more of their classics to get the book treatment? Eventually, LOA, Bridge on the River Kwai, Taxi Driver... |

DVD collectors would know that Sony tried book style packaging with both Kwai and Lawrence
They were VERY attractive, especially the cloth binding on Lawrence. The trays inside were a bit cheesy, but the concept was good I hope they do it again frankly |

As a general rule of thumb, I favor standard packaging, but I can run with the Digibooks in a pinch. Barring any shock late announcements, Strangelove will be my first. |

Usually when 1 studio tries something, they all end up doing it. So I do hope everyone releases a few digibooks at some point. |

And guess who was also heavily involved with El Cid and to a lesser degree with Fall of the Roman Empire over the years ![]() |

I cannot say that I really like the resulting look but if it is faithful to the DI it will get us as close to the theatrical look as we can expect from the Blu-Ray format and that is all that matters to me. |
