I can’t find my post on that thread ! …….as IT HAS EXPLODED with some contributions by new Blu-ray.com members emigrating from AVS, HDD and probably other niche forums/boards on the internet that I have never heard of........along with longtime Blu-ray.com member contributions. |

I'll let you guys battle this one out, you look like you're having fun.
Now, for those that care, I saw an extraordinary film today, one that's likely to be under intense critical review due to the death of its (posthumous) Oscar winning lead actor. Heath is great, naturally, and the inclusion of the other guys that step in are also fab. Local boy Christopher Plummer is just, well, a pleasure to watch, and is a not-so-subtle stand-in for Gilliam himself. Oh, and Tom Waits as the devil (awesome!!!!) But, my god. Knowing Penton and your proclivity for Brit model/nymphettes, you may already know about Lily Cole.... I haven't been as struck by a performance/look like this in years... I'd never heard of her, but "supermodel/actress/Cambridge philosophy scholar" is my new favourite thing ever... *drool* She plays in the film like some actress out of her time, with a shining, moon-like face plucked from the 20s silent cinema. Angelic, haunting, just gorgeous, all while holding her own against the rest of the leads. If you're bored, google for her, uh, "spread" in the (incredibly tasteful) Playboy France issue. Anyhoo, I've said too much (technically under moritorium for my review), but please, all of you, go and support The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus when it comes out. It well, well deserving of seeing in theatres, give Terry G some love, because this is the type of film that decades from now you'll look back with in wonder, saying they just don't make stuff like that any more... Or, you could go on about crap like Gladiator. Your call. |

![]() Sir! There is no call for divulgements like that on this thread as I am…..like Jay Leno, a happily married man! ![]() However…...since you opened Pandora’s Box, and as I always tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, I think Oliver K can inform you that in my young whipper-snapper bachelor days, I was not only fond of the Brits but, also attracted to those Frauleins……. 3rd interview on this clip (actually edited for the internet) http://www.nbc.com/The_Tonight_Show_...-0318/1067226/ |

![]() Sony should grab this Gilliam flick (I'm pretty damn sure nobody's got it yet, there were no studio tags in front of the screening... that's, naturally, why it'll play TIFF). But, and again I don't want you to think this the only reason to see this film, but she was that startingly gorgeous in it that it was worth trying to find out who the hell she was. ![]() ![]() You're telling me you would want to see that Barbarella remake? I'm late to the game for all you supermodel watchers, but I'm telling you, next big thing... Last edited by sharkshark; 08-27-2009 at 12:24 AM. |

not true, think about it, FG (on film or BD) is pixel size (or smaller on film) and it is different on each frame and yet visible. The issue is not that your eyes can't register the problems which are small and on a single frame, but the visual system is a big con job and your brain dismisses them as mistakes and pretends it did not see them. It does not work for FG because it is everywhere and constantly changing so your brain says "maybe this is real" and so let's you see it. |

Sorry - what I have said is true. I am talking about isolated pixel anomalies, not grain which is present everywhere. Also I have said that it is due to the smoothing affect of eye and brain combination. You have basically repeated what I have said in different words. ![]() |

As I said single frame anomalies are hard to notice. But, yes, it is not an impossibility for certain, should I say gifted people with certain talent, skill...

Thank you so much Jeff! Are movies mixed either 5.1 or 7.1 before they hit theaters or before the Blu-ray release?

Theatrical movies are mixed almost without variation for 5.1. 7.1 95% of the time is simply someone in the studio doing the same thing as pressing the above mentioned button. The number of legit 7.1 discrete mixes out there is a mere handful, and that's not likely to change because pressing a button is a lot cheaper and sells just as well
