I just checked it out. The Brazillian variant of the Japanese system is MPEG-4, and the J-TV can do up to 29mbps instead of 19 of ATSC

I know there has been some brief discussion about the SCANITY and Northlight systems.

Which scanner's output do you thinks looks better (and is edge-enhancement free)? They might be the two best on the market for 4K, no?

So much for expectations in regards to “new ownership” and potential ramifications for packaged home media of any format type.
Electronic distribution - Gee that would tie in nicely with Comcast's pay per view On Demand. However until Comcast can devote more bandwidth and provide a better compression codec (Mpeg-4 can be used on their newest boxes) the results will not come close to Blu-ray quality. For rentals I would rather pay $1.50 at Redbox for a Blu-ray rental than pay $7.00 to Comcast.

Well, Squid- looks like you can probably just tell me what disc you want now, if you'd like.

Great live performances all night long from many. I wish the show had made it to Blu-ray, but alas, the complexities to do so are rather inhibiting.

Well, if you’re going to be in Chicago in mid-July, or if you have any relatives with the same interests and sentiments, then check out the FCC’s June 3rd Press Release (i.e. Public Forum)…

I liked him too but, personally for me, the sadder news is the mounting World Cup injuries, i.e. Robben (The Netherlands) and Rio (England)…

Head’s up to 3D gamers in Asia …
http://asia.playstation.com/hk/en/ps...nDetail/152820

In the above, might I make special note of *cautions with 3D viewing* for which I previously contributed a little more detailed post pertaining to adult viewing and more importantly, children…mentioning the neuroplasticity of brains of children. In that regard, the link to the 3D game states...

“The vision of young children (especially those under six years old) is still under development. Prior to viewing 3D programs, consult with your child’s physician (such as a pediatrician or eye doctor) before allowing young children to watch 3D video images or play 3D stereoscopic games.”

Anthony P., I think you were inquiring awhile back about 3D projectors. Last week there was a get-together at Stewart Filmscreen in SoCal (I did not attend).

Check out the May 27 event and scroll down a little for a spiel about another manufacturer’s 3D front projector offering….

Doctorossi –

Getting back to Inception (Christopher Noloan), only for a brief note. It’s essentially another photochemical processed (rather than DI) effort from the Batman man. The photochemical post work encompassed a total of 4-5 days…shorter (and cheaper) than a typical feature film boasting a 4k DI in the post production chain.

Like with The International, the easiest scenes to identify as being captured on 65mm. are the wide shots. I think all the action stuff (whatever acquisition) shot on the ski slopes in the Calgary area is visually quite stunning.

Probably the best website to keep up on the particulars of this motion picture is with Bob Fisher here (I never learned how to use the Spoiler thingee on this forum)…
http://www.hollywoodnews.com/2010/05...-of-inception/

As an aside, to silver halide enthusiasts, to whom I guess Chris N. and Wally P. are their heroes, at the time Inception was in production, Kodak’s two newest Vision3 film stocks were not yet available to the filmmakers…
http://motion.kodak.com/US/en/motion...10/Jun01_1.htm

^ The 200T camera negative stock apparently offering “even finer grain structure” amongst other attributes.

Having logged some time on the slopes of Kananaskis country, I am really looking forward to these shots on the big screen; big beautiful country.

Indeed , personally, I’ll never forget riding through that beautiful area of Canada on the way to the finish line in Canmore (west of Calgary), the year I did that race awhile back…

P.S.
Doctor, I know you’re now also probably wondering what rez was the film stock scanned at given the noticeable amount of vfx in the trailer shown on Bob Fisher’s website. The answer be 6K for the 65mm and 4K for the 35mm. You may get further vfx details from the Double Negative people as time goes on, here...
http://www.dneg.com/news/

I make no predictions/promises as to the quality of the eventually released Blu-ray incarnation of this motion picture, because for one, this is a WHV title (of which I have 0 association) and number 2, I would not exactly characterize Wally P. as a big Blu-ray advocate (to put it kindly) or for that matter, higher definition packaged home media, in general.

He is certainly not of the same motivational sentiment as someone like Marty S. or Steven S. in that regard.

Ah, but Fincher is a big proponent of Home Video, and his (more indie) films contain some of the best companion pieces ever released... The Doc on Zodiac remains, I think, one of the finest ever made for an "extra". Panic Room, Fight Club, Se7en, the list goes on...

And penton, to do a spoiler, just highlight the text you want, and click the icon above (the smiley with the covered eyes) and it'll wrap spoiler tags around your block of text. No more unmasked spoilers for Inception, please, as I'm not even bothering with the trailer, knowing I'll be seeing it for sure anyway.

Spoilerizing stuff in the trailer is overkill.
