Penton, I feel so sorry for you and your comrades in 'ol LA.

I hope you guys don't get too wet heading into the Oscars, however, speaking for myself and my comrades on the East coast, we got enough of this "white stuff" to deal with. How lucky you are.

I have a serious question to ask you. I've been so stumped on whether Universal is Blu-ray exclusive or neutral. I just read this article posted today and it has some interesting details. Universal and Warner are both giving incentives to retailers to reduce the prices of their movies on HD DVD so that the stores can smoothly advance their support for Blu-ray. I find it quite funny how Paramount isn't mentioned at all... maybe they're sour about having to come back to Blu-ray after embarrassing themselves. Hehe. Anyway.... Universal couldn't even confirm a release date for Atonement on HD DVD ( http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/news/...s_in_Flux/1497 ).

Here's the article about Universal and Warner giving incentives to retailers. They're phasing out HD DVD as quickly as possible.
http://www.videobusiness.com/index.a...id%3DCA6534430

Who knew the domino effect would happen so fast? Either way, I find it quite suspicious how the one studio that was always behind HD DVD refused to announce anything for new for their customers and mentioned that all plans are in "flux." I really think they're not going to release any new HD DVD movies but what do you think?

Oh and thank you for being such a great insider! <3
Sorry, I can’t comment as that is Uni’s business; however, I did tell everyone here to be kind with Ken G.

But, in regards to “Who knew the domino effect would happen so fast?”
Well obviously few did , so I imagine the BD50 doomsday scenario that was campaigned ad nausea on multiple forums all over the internet is suddenly upon us.

Oh my God, tell WB quick – they made the wrong decision!
This will cost them millions in lost sales ! ! !

Well they had all the Oscar statues wrapped up in plastic today but, I’m still hopeful for no precipitation late Sunday afternoon.

Since we are in the awards season I nominate HD-DVD for the Edsel award, and the HD-51 disc for the Dodo award.

The Dodo award requires it to have actually existed in the first place

You are a creative fellow but, some here may not recognize the face.

It existed in the minds of the HD-DVD fanboys (and maybe in a lab).

Concession speech?
Who cares?

He didn’t work for any pro HD DVD company when he gave the speech.
Plus, his former company’s top dog, Bill Gates *conceded* the format war publicly before CES by ignoring the red format altogether --like it never existed in the first place.

I get a kick out of these *film aficionados* and *home theater enthusiasts* that avidly follow such mundane things as replication lines. Firstly, to further the advancement of an anti-Blu-ray agenda, they all purposely assumed that technology and financial investment is static and secondly – any valuable cutting edge information is confidential, anyway.

They can always start a new doomsday scenario right now for the Blu-ray format.
As somebody stated above, the dominos all fell much quicker than everyone thought and the red house came falling down abruptly. This will result is a greater number of people eventually desiring to buy Blu-ray players (than previously expected).
Can the carriers (Fed-Ex, etc.) actually be able to handle the excess load of these upcoming shipments?

I suggest now that those people who actually like tracking that sort of information -rather than watching movies at home, start tracking airline schedules, capacity cargo holds, etc. to determine if we are not setting up future Blu-ray player owners for a doomsday scenario regarding the delivery of new units on time! ! ! !

Guys,
I’ve received a bunch of PM’s where you have linked me to the Bram Stoker’s Dracula thread over at the other forum, as it appears to have been resurrected recently.

Please no more PM’s to me about this topic, as I refuse to be drawn into another *debate* regarding Dracula. I’m going to make one post there to correct yet more disinformation and that’s it.

LOL! I hear ya! It's like going to a Star Trek msg board and having armchair scientists argue the merits of wormhole travel and blah blah blah...while they slam and dismiss people...amazing. What ever happened to just enjoying something for what it is?

Penton, 2 questions, would you post the reply here also, so we don't have to visit that thread just to find a deleted response.
And, do you or other insiders ever go to the Spirit Awards? I've always found those to appear more "fun" than the Academy Awards. Or is that just for the independant stars/producers?
Thanks

I saved it in a Word document because my spelling has been rather atrocious recently.
Give me a few moments to find where the hell I put it on my computer and I'll copy and paste.
