I agree with you that the state by state whackamole lockdown has proven ineffective.

I probably shouldn't have posed it with a question, more of an addendum. I think we'll see the international air transit shut off the day we see fast food shut off (ie never).

And shut it off for a very long time. New Zealand had to shut it off twice. The UK is the best example of a large'ish country shutting off international air transit, they had set a date for tourists and citizens/ex-pats that said if you're not back in the country by xx/xx/xxx that the UK won't let you back in.

And that worked for the UK for like 2 months, now they're worse than where they started, if counting by just the number of cases.
The problem is people rush back home with little regard for the consequences. It's like those scenes that we see in movies, there's a contagion in the mall and everyone tries to get out before they shut the place off. Just on a widespread scale.

doing much the same (mentally and physically) in her own way as she hasn’t taken bereavement leave for the loss of a sibling and continues to work hard.

I love Classical music...number one in my music repertoire.
I also love Opera big time, same level as Classical music.
Right next to it is Tango music.

I also like other music genres; like Jazz, Blues, Calypso, Bossa Nova, Cuba, New Age, Psychedelic, Alternative, Electronica, Disco (Bee Gees), International, etc., etc., etc.

During this pandemic music listening is my zone of comfort, relaxation, my sanctuary of calmness, my kind retreat, my safety emergency door, my cure, my vaccine, my everything.

Right now ...

Wait tomorrow ... Fridays are generally high.
In BC we hit over 700 (762) cases yesterday, a new record; today I don't know yet.

There are several models of projection from various sources, with different scenarios (best to worse).
They are generally quite similar between them.

Sorry for this late reply. Sorry also to Penton-Man for your loss.

In the UK at least, there is excellent compliance. Mask-wearing in public here in the UK is at 98%. Figures from recent Office of National Statistics survey.

Having some counties close down while others are open won't do squat. Theaters in my county closed, but theaters in other parts of the metro area are open.

They're going to try that here starting in December but I agree. I get what they're trying to accomplish, however nothing I've seen in the last 11 months suggests most people care enough to change their behavior.

LordoftheRings, thanks for the promotion reminder regarding Vitamin D, as I thusly had my 25-hydroxy drawn on 11/18 and indeed I am insufficient in Vitamin D (<30, as the graph is not as precise as the print-out report). I will be more compliant in taking the supplement.

^ P.S.
Some may recall that a certain high profile person was given Vitamin D as part of his regimen by his medical team from Walter Reed and notably Johns Hopkins.

Many folks are deficient on vitamine D, and it's a good thing to have a bottle on top of the fridge.

I don't believe that number for a second, you only have to watch a news segment from the streets to see flocks of people walking around without masks. I'd also exclude people that don't know that they breath and expel droplets from their noses from that figure too!

I would like to know what system of analyses they used to calculate that 98% use of masks in the UK population. Is there something factual (scientific data) to that effect?
