yes, but they are tweeting about a review that doesn't even review the Atmos soundtrack but rather the 7.1 core, but saying the Atmos soundtrack is everything a fan could want. Yikes.

Robert, since you’re appreciative and cognizant of high quality, later on (it’s somewhere in my other computer), I’ll post an exclusive image which was forwarded to me with regards to a part of the human visual system where there are crossing nerve fibers from both eyes (http://nn.cs.utexas.edu/web-pubs/bed...sis/node6.html)

And which is not included in the public gallery - http://www.humanconnectomeproject.org/gallery/

Sony provided me with one of their media streamers along with two HDR clips and Tyler from Spectracal plans on bringing a bunch of HDR10 clips as well. Should be fun to see how HDR holds up on the projection side of things. I will also be demo'ing some Dolby Atmos for the home for the visitors.
Kris, where’s the story of your ^ get together?..... which reminds me, I’m flummoxed as to whether the impression this article (http://www.lightillusion.com/hdr.html) by Light Illusion gives readers is an example of *a little bit of knowledge is dangerous* or represents a reflection of outright jealousy by Light Illusion to SpectraCal for being so far ahead of them in the HDR game.

For example, the following assertion is just ludicrous even if one knows absolutely nothing about the fovea, parafoveal or peripheral portion of the retina “To actually gain benefit from the concept of HDR the actual viewing angle the display would need to occupy would be in the order of 45°, which with an average large TV of 55" would means sitting just 65" from the screen.”

And the paragraph entitled “HDR – The reality & associated issues” starting out with the proclamation - “The biggest issue with HDR is that it can actually be painful to watch, due to what is often termed as excessive eye fatigue...” seems way overstated now that we have real world content where Ray’s buddies in the HDR sandbox on AVS are getting HDR boners rather than “excessive eye fatigue”…... http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lc...ted-often.html

No? then as Zoet might say…you snoozed…..you luz.

Cripes guys, it’s Dolby’s *private* theater where DV was first previewed for Hollywood Insiders….http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/beh...es-imax-753479

Y'all missed a good opportunity to view a fine screening.

and sadly since it's Fox, it's highly doubtful that the Dolby Atmos mix will be encoded on the bluray when specs and street date are announced.

The blue halo led behind the screen will be at 50% percent during coming attractions and completely off for the presentation. EXIT lights will dim to around 30% as will the runway lighting.

Well I saw Tomorrowland in Dolby Vision/Atmos at the El Capitan.

Last night saw Star Wars in Dolby Cinema at the Burbank AMC. The picture was much better than IMAX - blacks were *black*, immediately noticable in the opening crawl. AMC even has custom Dolby Cinema announcements before the film starts now (don't use your cell phone, etc).

Compared to the El Cap and the AMC Burbank, Dolby’s *private* theater is a little more intimate with only about 70 seats, but good to hear you’re getting out to see HDR movies in Dolby Vision at other locations around town.

I’ll watch Star Wars in IMAX 3D and on a 91’x69’ screen, just as J.J. Abrams suggests:

“Asked about the ideal way to watch The Force Awakens, Abrams told Associated Press that IMAX is the way to go, and specifically, laser projectors. “You cannot compare a traditionally projected image with a laser image,” Abrams said. “The blacks are true blacks. It’s almost as if you have to adjust to it.”

“As someone who really hasn’t been the most vocal advocate of 3D, the strangest thing happened to me on this,” he said. “When I was watching the reels in 3D, there were a number of shots — and I know this sounds insane — that I hadn’t understood in the three-dimensional space quite the way I did when I saw them in 3D. I actually felt that there were things that were playing better in 3D. I had never felt that before. And if people have access to a theater that has laser projection, it is shockingly better.”

Sony have done it plenty of times before (remember, it's the 3D part that restricts the 3D/2D DCP to 2K) but I've never heard of any other studio doing the same thing. Still waiting for confirmation on Star Wars...

Yes, but Sony released 2D versions of those movies as 4K DCPs.... Not the case here, the 2D version is still 2K

Film-Tech forum reports that the DCP was 2K for both 2D and 3D.
