Oh look, they're going to make Phasma an actual character now after they wasted her in TWO films. How nice of them to finally try. What a shame Gwendoline was wasted like that.

I really wanted the next series to stay far away from that mess but I do have faith that Filoni can do what he did for the prequels in Clone Wars.

That one image and the words 'an anime-inspired style' in the press release have me very excited. I'm imagining Porco Rosso meets Star Wars, yes please....

I missed the "anime-inspired" description when I read it the first time. That has increased my interest by several orders of magnitude.

Same!! I wonder if this is closer to Forces of Destiny than Rebels though. Filoni isn't EP, no Kiri Hart or Carrie Beck either.

I hope the main character will be female this time. It'll make a nice change from the previous two animated shows where the main lead was male.

Forces of Destiny (Canon animated series) is 100% about the females or the SW universe...

''Rebels'' had Sabine and Hera who had a lot of episodes about them especially Sabine who even got a lightsaber at one point...

and I guess you forgot Ashoka was a main character in Clone Wars...

Jynn is dead and forgotten.

Rey is having a difficult time with her own movies since the show runners are more interested in developing Kylo as a villain than Rey as a hero. Plus all the fans and general audience want Leia to be dead pre-opening crawl. Add the detail of Rose's priorities being a danger to herself and the whole galaxy, I don't think she's long for this franchise. In conclusion, when you watch the last shots of TLJ with the stable boy, that should be a clear indication that Star Wars is heading back to it's male dominated roots.

Forces of Destiny is awesome, but it's more of a 'fill in the gaps' method of adding to the lore instead of being something that truly stands on it's own to tell a unique story. I think female characters deserve better than being filler.

Rebels may have had Sabine and Hera, but I think Dave Filoni seems pretty content with having his Star Wars series revolve around the 'special boy' who everyone can't stop hero worshipping. The female characters may be fun, but you will never have the series be categorized as their story. Hera for example. Why isn't she the leader of the group? She owns and pilots the freaking Ghost yet she always calls Kanan the leader.

Does anyone else get a serious The Phantom Menace vibe from that art? I can't help but think about Naboo starfighters every time I see it. No judgement there, just an observation.

My only real hesitation about this show is that they've boxed themselves in between saga films yet again. It doesn't leave much opportunity to do anything really Earth-shattering with the mythology.

I was hoping that Resistance would cover the events that following broom boi, but I guess the Resistance becomes the Rebellion yet again at that point.
