b.t.w. fellow readers, where I’ve spoiler-ized something in my posts like in the last several pages, it’s because I’ve revealed some scene or the details thereof which have not been shown in any of the Top Gun: Maverick trailers. If you happen to un-spoiler them, I don’t think that will really ruin the movie for you, but if you really desire to go into the movie from a completely unknowing standpoint then I would not un-spoiler that part of my posts until after you’ve watched the flick.

Heck, for that matter, if you want to have a completely virginal experience, I wouldn’t even watch any of the trailers.

I saw this movie as a screener over 3 years ago.... It was amazing then... I can't imagine with the 3 years it was pushed back, the finished sound and visual effects... Cant wait to watch it in the Dolby Theater. without giving anything away.... Anyone who is not a super fan like most of us are... I HIGHLY recommend watching the first one.... there are a ton of awesome throwbacks to it.

Your timing is off. Principal photography was still happening 3 years ago, e.g. at Whidbey and for that matter even later, e.g. at Fallon, etc.

Copy that , indeed. Athough unreported by The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline, etc. I revealed in an early 3-day heads-up as to the imminent release of the latest Top Gun: Maverick trailer and an emotional snippet from within it - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...l#post19970726

Not going to lie you might be right I could be off by a littler bit...I Definitely was one of the first screenings of it in 2019, that's what they said before it started, and that was about 3 years though... I definitely know this for sure because I went before COVID lock downs, and a few months before my daughter was born, she was born in Jan 2020 and is now 2 years and almost 5 months old.... I can tell you how early a screener it was in private cause I don't know if something about it is still the same and don't want to spoil anything for anyone if they kept it this way.

No harm, no foul , keeps the conversation going. All are welcome into the Top Gun: Maverick movie experience be they enthusiasts or so-called film snobs as coined by Chris McQuarrie - "I want film snobs to come and see this movie saying, “You know, it's Top Gun, it's a money-grab. Okay... don't have chills. I dare you. Don't get a little teary-eyed, I dare you. Don't have sweaty palms in the third act of the movie!."

b.t.w., etc. -

Ukraine Top Gun: Maverick / Original intended release date ...

"Top Gun: Maverick has been in various states of development since 2010. Filming began in 2018 and wrapped by the summer of 2019, with some test footage even screening for attendees at CineEurope in Barcelona in 2019. A July 2019 release was initially intended for the film, though additional time was needed to perfect the film's effects and flight sequences. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic compounded on top of that, leading to its final date next month."

That is exactly right, there might have been flight scenes and sequences not shot yet or shot again and replaced for better ones.. the fact of the matter by the summer of 2019 there definitely was a finished movie that was screened... and though clearly it was not finished, It was great... and I have been clamoring to see the finished project for about 3 years now since I last saw it.

Yes as I just said above they might have shot other flight scenes and replaced some of the flying scenes with the newly shot scenes, I don't doubt it. I have been part of test audiences for a long time and to say nothing changes almost never happens. This one has had me waiting to be " going Mach-2 with my hair on fire " since!! haha

Also for my family she is turning into a mini movie buff just like her daddy here is her picture from Halloween with her mommy.... guess who they were...

She is ready to kick the tires and light the fires....

She always takes my breath away, haha

So far, this plot line is not inspiring me to want to see Top Gun 2 yet.

Quote:
After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy's top aviators, Pete Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him.

Test pilot Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell has purposely dodged an advancement in rank after thirty years of service. One day Maverick is called to be put in charge of training a group of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission under the orders of his fellow naval aviator friend and former rival, Admiral Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, who is the commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Among them is Lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, the son of Maverick's late best friend Nick "Goose" Bradshaw.
What is the main conflict of the film? Is it about Mav (Tom Cruise) trying to prove that he's still a good pilot worth training the new recruits to his new boss?

Are the trailers intentionally not revealing a main villain or major threat in this film? Or is it really about Maverick being a good teacher of jet fighters?

It's interesting if they're intentionally leaving out major plot points, but to not show the villain or major threat to the story, has me very much on the fence with Top Gun Maverick.

Did you see the movie 'The Matrix Resurrections' ? It's the number 4.
The original was a revolution in technical cinematography.

"Top Gun: Maverick' is a movie about pilots, top gun jet fighters pilots.
You saw the original (1986) right? It was the movie that sold home theaters to millions of people across the world...sight & sound (behind).

Maverick is pushing the envelope with aerial camera shots, innovation in the cockpit.
We love our movies pushing the boundaries beyond our screens with the sound barrier crushed by the sheer will of adrenaline speed. The original Matrix (1999) was the push of multiple cameras on a 360° field of slow-mo action stage (quasi 4D).

Is Maverick a true story? It is based on multiple real life top gun pilots.
Tom Cruise is today's top gun Hollywood movie star like Keanu Reeves was for The Matrix.
These two guys are top notch action movie screen stars.

Back in 1986 Tony Scott was an innovator filmmaker.
Back in 1977 (Star Wars) George Lucas made sci-fi history on our screens across the planet.
In 1968 (2001: A Space Odyssey) Stanley Kubrick made movie history with his unique vision.

We are now in 2022, during the third year of a global pandemic and @ the threshold of a third world war (nuclear). Top Gun: Maverick has been delayed since before the pandemic.
The chance to see it soon (next month) might not present itself again in the future where our planet with some of its rulers are aiming for. I don't wanna miss it for a thing; enemies within or enemies abroad. Time to roll the dices and wish us all good luck ...

You’re one lucky fellow, never take that for granted. Both are beautiful . Your wife kinda reminds me of mine years ago (decades actually) when we got married. She’s Asian, but won’t allow me to post of pic of herself on this forum, only her workplace on Halloween, which actually has been on national news from time to time –

Her father was here - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...d#post18313658

Your daughter’s cute flight suit and patches remind me of this Top Gun patch post, regarding a guy, who it seems though never grew up - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post19219068

Onething I'm really looking forward to is the all the behind the scene extras that will be on the video release. Hope their will be a 2 hour plus making of documentary just like there was for the film.

^ You mean happy? Wouldn’t you be too, if anticipating a kiss, like this, in the script, scroll down to the last pic - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...e#post15721280

Seriously, as recounted from inside here – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...r#post17311338
by a 3-time Distinguished Flying Cross awardee - “Some even came to the bar to hang out after their workdays were done — although Maverick himself, Tom Cruise, wasn't among them. We brought him in there just by himself to see it," Slentz said, calling Cruise "super nice" and "respectful." - https://www.businessinsider.com/stor...-sequel-2020-1

Now with regards to the bar inspired by the I-Bar and built specifically as a movie set for Top Gun: Maverick as first reported here with construction/landscaping progress photos - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...k#post15650436 ,

the I-Bar itself is waaay too small for the get-togethers in the movie, ergo a dedicated structure was built – The Hard Deck.

Hmmmm…

I boomed Top Gun: Maverick (all fun-filled 14 months) and there sure seems to be an awful lot of misinformation about the picture floating around lately.

Just sayin'.
